This is the best experience so far!!
What an incredible experience, I did not think this could be such a wonderful experience. If you're in Crete you have to try the Sunset tour with Safari Club. At first I wanted to a boat day trip but if you want something different and exceptional, this is it! Not only you have amazing view of the sunset at the top of a mountain, you will get so much more. Our guide Vangelis Swiss took us around the Island and shared so many insights about the island and the areas we went through such as the Aposelemi Dam, olive oil tasting in a very quaint town, you can buy very high quality EVOO and their special kind of spirit which is Raki (they have many flavours too!), many off road trails which made it so fun! Vangelis made us feel very safe and we just had such a blast with him, what a great sense of adventure he has and the safari was very fun ride. We finished off with traditional Cretan dinner at an authentic tavern and danced the night away. 1000% would recommend this guided tour with Safari Club, it certainly did NOT disappoint :)
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you so much for your fantastic feedback! It's wonderful to hear that the Sunset Tour was such an extraordinary and surprisingly wonderful experience for you. Many guests initially consider a boat tour—so we're all the more pleased that you chose something special and that it was exactly the right decision. Vangelis Swiss will be thrilled to hear your kind words. His passion for Crete, the fascinating insights into places like the Aposelemi Dam, the olive oil tasting in the small village, the off-road sections, and his sense of adventure truly make the tour unique. The fact that you felt safe at all times and had so much fun means a great deal to us. The sunset on the mountain, the traditional dinner in the authentic taverna, and the dancing together are unforgettable moments—and we're delighted that you experienced them the same way. Thank you so much for your overwhelming recommendation—we gladly accept 1000%! We would love to welcome you back again. Warmest regards, Your Safari Club Team

A great experience made by the driver
Sniper, our driver, from the start was engaging, fun and clearly the elder statesman of the drivers. He got the whole group chatting, laughing and, by the end of the night, those that could, dancing. The drive was, at times, hair-raising, but Sniper drove with a caution that gave assurance. The views however, were stunning. Great sunset, a chance to experience local produce and join in with Raki-fuelled Greek dancing! I took my mobility-challenged (79 yr old) parent with no problems.
Response from the operator: Hello, what a fantastic experience you had with Sniper! It’s wonderful to hear how he brought the group together and created such a lively atmosphere. Our drivers truly strive to ensure everyone feels safe, especially on those thrilling drives! It’s also great to know that the sunset views and local produce added to your adventure, along with the fun of Raki-fuelled Greek dancing. We’re delighted to hear that your parent was able to join in comfortably. Thank you for sharing your lovely memories with us! Your Safari Club Team!

Totally awesome BJ&KJ
One of the best trips my friend and I have done for years. A long day, value for money . Eight of us altogether travelled in the vehicle and the atmospere was great. Jason, our driver/guide was just so knowledgeable about our trip particularly about what happened in WW2 on Crete. Nothing was too much trouble. Any questions were always answered. I would certainly recommend the off road day trip to the mountains...olive oil, honey, cheese tasting plus lunch
Response from the operator: Experiencing our tour with a fantastic group, like you and your friend, truly brings joy to our team! It's wonderful to hear that Jason's expertise made your time special, especially his insights on WW2 history. We're glad you enjoyed the off-road adventure to the mountains with the tastings of olive oil, honey, and cheese.Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to see you back for more memorable explorations soon!

Amazing 4x4 experience with vangelis!!
If you’re visiting Crete, this is an experience you absolutely shouldn’t miss! We booked the 4x4 Sunset Safari during our honeymoon, and it turned out to be the highlight of our entire holiday. The views from the mountains at sunset were simply breathtaking, and the whole evening was perfectly organised from start to finish. A huge thank you to our guide, Vangelis, He was brilliant—funny, knowledgeable, and made the trip so enjoyable. He shared lots of interesting information about the local area and even doubled as our photographer, taking some incredible photos that we’ll treasure from our honeymoon. One of our favourite moments was stopping in the mountains to feed the goats, which was such a unique experience, there wasn’t any crowds, think we got picked up around 17:00 and was dropped off at 23:30. We also visited a small traditional village where we had the chance to sample locally produced olive oil. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything, which we really appreciated. The evening finished with an amazing meal, followed by traditional dancing, creating the perfect end to a fantastic trip. The scenery, food, atmosphere and hospitality were all outstanding, and our guide really made the experience unforgettable. This was without a doubt the best evening of our holiday, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting Crete. 100% worth every penny!
Response from the operator: Hello, thank you so much for the detailed description of your tour and the excellent review. We are very happy that you enjoyed the tour so much and that you will always remember it. Wonderful! We wish you many more unforgettable days on the Island of the Gods as husband and wife. All the best and warmest regards. Your Safari Club Team

How much does Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour cost?

How long does Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Heraklion is not rushed.
Is Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 117 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Heraklion, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour?
+

Is Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour?
+
Around 41 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Heraklion can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Heraklion and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Safari Club: Crete by Sunset, evening Guided Tour start and how do I get there?
+

What are the best things to do in Heraklion?
+
On Outty we rank every Heraklion experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Knossos - Zeus Cave - Old Traditional Villages-Olive Oil Factory, Knossos & Lasithi Plateau: Zeus Cave, Villages, Olive Oil Tour, Quad Safari: Off-Road Day Tour with Dinner & Transfers. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Heraklion?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Heraklion?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
