Amazing and Fun Learning Experience
This was my first experience on my first day in Tokyo and it couldn't have been better--seriously incredible. Tomo was my guide and she was amazing! She taught me lots about shrines and how to follow the rules expected and took her time to answer my questions. She took pictures on my phone of me and was so friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend this enough, especially if it's your first time in Japan. The only thing I would say is to make sure you leave early so that if you get mixed up getting there you aren't late and if you go in the summer like I did definitely bring water!
Response from the operator: Hi Jaely, I’m so happy to hear your first morning in Tokyo was such a great one! Tomo told me how much she enjoyed spending time with you. Meiji Shrine is a special place to start any visit, and I'm glad she could help make it memorable. Thanks again for joining and sharing your thoughts!

半年以上前ですが、大学の研究の一環で参加しました。...
It was over six months ago, but I joined as part of my university research. The tours are usually conducted in English, but since I was the only participant this time, the guide kindly gave the tour in Japanese. The pace of the conversation and walking was just right, and I learned a lot of new information I didn’t know before. I was really satisfied with the experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for joining and for sharing your thoughtful message! I’m really happy we could support your university research and make it a comfortable and meaningful time. It was a pleasure sharing new stories with you. Wishing you all the best in your studies! 📚🌿

Good start to visit to Japan.
Guide Atsushi was very friendly. Explained a lot about the shrine and brought us to a local coffee place after. Also provided some nice recommendations of other places to check out in the city, including some that I never would have found on my own.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Ashley! We’re so happy you enjoyed the time with Atsushi at Meiji Shrine and the local coffee spot. He loved sharing hidden gems with you—glad you got to see a different side of Tokyo. Come back anytime!

Must do experience if you are first time to Tokyo/Japan
I would highly recommend this if you are in Tokyo/Japan for the first time. This tour is a great introduction to Tokyo, Japanese culture, and Shintoism. We both had a great time with our tour guide Midori. She is very knowledgeable and patient. She answered all our questions during the experience. Plus, she is a great photographer. We got so many incredible pictures. The price was quite reasonable, and the timing was perfect. As the tour started in the morning, we had a lot of time to explore nearby areas after the tour in Shibuya. We also went to a park nearby and had some traditional Japanese snacks, which Midori brought for everyone under the Sakura tree. Perfect ending!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the heartfelt review! We're so happy you enjoyed the morning at Meiji Shrine and the time with Midori. She's thrilled you appreciated the stories, the photos, and the Sakura moment with snacks. We hope to welcome you again soon!

temple and hanami
It is worth getting up early and avoiding the crowds (especially in Sakura season). Midori was a wonderful guide and provided us with lots of information. We were lucky to see blessing of a archery team by a priest an a wedding. Instead of the brunch we went to the park for hanami (picnic under cherryblossom tree) which was wonderful. Very recommended.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We're thrilled you enjoyed the peaceful early morning with Midori at Meiji Shrine, especially during the Sakura season. Witnessing the blessing and wedding must have felt magical—and the hanami picnic made it all the more special 🌸

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine cost?
+
Prices start at $4000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sacred Morning Walk and Brunch Meiji Shrine start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
