What you'll see and do
Rucu Pichincha
We will start picking up all the participants from their location (in case that is farther from the city we will find a meeting point). After buying your tickets in Teleferico we'll go up to the High station and then hike to Rucu Pichincha summit. Depending on your physical condition we will stop in specific places to take a breath. In one hour and a half, we will arrive at the Bear`s Cave and will prepare for the last hour of hike. All the way, we will going to see different kind of plants and animals. When we arrive at the rock basement we will take another breath to continue to the summit. This is time for pictures and enjoy the solitude of the mountain. This hike could be at least 3 or more hours to the top. and two hours returning to the cable car station. When we return to the first station of the Cable Car, we would find our transportation ready to go home. Other things to consider - On Raining Season our goal will be the Bear`s Cave for safety of all the participants.

Enjoyable hike to the summit of Pichincha
Liseth was my hiking guide to Pichinchu. She picked me up from my hotel and we went up to the trailhead by cable car as that is the only way to get to the trailhead. I was a little worried about the weather because it was cloudy and looked like thunderstorm was brewing but Liseth told me as long as we had good energy and put in our effort everything would turn out good. She lead the hike in a comfortable pace and since she spoke excellent English so we talked about all kind of things. We made to the summit in good time and as she promised, the clouds started to break and we had a good view of Quito all the way down. I guess I could have done this by myself but with a local guide it made the hike more enjoyable rather than just keep pushing for the summit.

A pleasant tour surprise!
Not only is the mountain beautiful, very high but at the same time relatively accessible, but the views of the city of Quito are excellent. What surprised me most, however, was the friendliness of the couple who were our guides, Cecília and David, who are also experienced mountaineers. They explained to me the location of the dozen peaks visible throughout the tour and which constitute the so-called "Avenue of Ecuador's volcanoes". TOP!

Our guides were...
Our guides were absolutely amazing! Unfortunately the original hike we purchased had closed access a week prior. Our guides did an excellent job recommending some alternative hikes, so we ended up going to Cotopaxi (which was amazing). Along the way, they picked up a 3rd guide who had intimate knowledge of Cotopaxi since she had grown up in its magnificent shadow. They were incredibly knowledgeable and literally treated us like family. I hope we cross paths with them again. Thank you for an amazing adventure!
