Driver took us to tourist trap spot instead of hotel after we already said no

I would not recommend. We booked airport transfer to our hotel from the airport to have the security that we would get to the hotel safe and not have to deal with the extra haggling. Otherwise I would have just gotten a normal taxi/uber. Once we landed I had to message the first driver multiple times where his location was since he was not where he said he would be/not with a name sign which he said he would have in prior communication. Once we were able to find him, we got on his hot/trash filled car. He proceeded to say that he has this “free” tourist spot he wanted us to go to tonight. We explained that we are not interested and that we have other things scheduled for tonight. He proceeded to say oh no it’s quick you must. We said no, thank you specifically we just want to go to the hotel, we do not have time. We then proceeded to drive to what we thought was our hotel. Little did we know he proceeded to take us to the “free” tourists trap despite us saying NO very clearly MULTIPLE TIMES. He stopped in front of this place with all our bags in the car and wanted us to get out for “5 minutes” and see.. we were not interested in leaving all of our luggage with a random driver to this “5 minute free tourist site”. We said “no, you need to take us to the hotel” 4 times by this point! Luckily, we never got out of the car and he ended up finally taking us to the hotel but completely missing the point of a private airport transfer for $100 total transfer when an uber was $12 each way and we probably would have gotten very similar service/safety. Would not recommend that driver. Our second driver going to the airport from the hotel was fine. He did his job/we felt safe but we will never forget how disappointed and unsafe we felt with the first driver for completely going against our specific wishes. Unfortunate.

Response from the operator: thats not happened you create that story to take uber , they are not safe like us .driver was waiting for you hold sign with your name, uber donest do that , uber donest speak english, more safe with viator than uber ,

Magdy the personal and very professional driver- do your best to get this one

Our driver for all tours was Magdy He is an extremely polite young man who is not strong in English yet excels in all other areas. For four days he took us to all places, airport to our meeting, spots, ATMs restaurants, we needed to go. The traffic and aggressive drivers in Egypt or hard to get used to, but Magdy is an excellent driver who will make you feel comfortable riding with him. I highly recommend this young man if you are able to get him as your personal driver having him drive for us magnified our time while we were there.

As always reliable service with excellent communication. This is the fourth time we use this agency and we can’t recommend it enough. We love knowing that after a long flight our airport transfer will be there for us.

Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.

How much does Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza cost?

+

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.

Is Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 96 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza?

+

Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Round-Trip Airport Transfer in Cairo or Giza start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cairo?

+

On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
