Awesome experience in Mitai Village and WaiO Tapu
This is our first time engaging ExperienceKart for a guided tour to Mitai Village and Waiotapu Thermal and we had nothing but a blast! We were greeted by our super friendly tour guide, Mr Karthik at the meeting point and he put us all at ease from the get go. He was such a gem, providing us with nuggets of information all through our drive from Auckland hotel to Rotorua and his enthusiasm kept us all engaged on the tour. The tour van was super comfortable and came with foldable tables for us to eat our snacks and breakfast in the van. We highly recommend Mr Karthik and his company for anyone interested in this tour and we will definitely come back for more!
Response from the operator: Kia Ora Hi J, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing ExperienceKart for your Rotorua journey. Outstanding!
Kia Ora. Outstanding! Karthik was a wonderful host and tour guide. So kind and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our experience, it was the highlight of our NZ trip. Will definitely be back and looking for Karthik to show us more. We were a bit hesitant to go on a tour, but it was so worth it, Karthik educated us so well, a 5 star review doesn't do him justice, should be 10! Also, to be noted, we felt really comfortable and safe travelling with him, what a great driver! (And I am a renowned terrible passenger!!) Thanks so much Karthik, well be back! Shane & Alana from Aus.
Response from the operator: Kia Ora Shane & Alana, Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, it truly means a lot to us. We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your day with Karthik was such a highlight of your New Zealand trip. Hearing that the experience exceeded your expectations, especially when you were initially hesitant about taking a tour, is the greatest compliment we could receive. Karthik will be thrilled to know his knowledge, care, and driving made you feel comfortable and safe throughout the journey. We’re so glad the day left such a strong impression, and we would love nothing more than to welcome you back to Aotearoa for another adventure when you return. Ngā mihi nui, The ExperienceKart Team

Rotorua has many highlights particularly the shared Māori cultural activities that are most interesting and accessible.
The Māori experience was educational, fun and interactive. I’m a First Nation Ojibwe woman from Ontario Canada and there are similarities in our cultures and beliefs. The feast of traditional Māori food was delicious. The interesting features like the champagne pool, craters and blowholes and rock formations in the geothermal area was something I’d never experienced. Karthik has a wealth of knowledge that he gladly shares with the group. Karthik’s driving skills focused on safety for us all.
Response from the operator: Kia Ora Larry, Thank you for such a meaningful and heartfelt review, it truly means a lot to us. We’re so glad the Māori cultural experience resonated with you, and how special to hear you could connect similarities with your own First Nations heritage. It’s those shared stories and values that make these moments even more powerful. We’re delighted you enjoyed the geothermal landscapes as well, they really are unlike anywhere else in the world. And we couldn’t agree more about Karthik, his passion for sharing knowledge and ensuring a safe, comfortable journey is something we’re very proud of. Thank you for choosing to travel with us and for sharing your experience so beautifully, it was a privilege to be part of your journey. Ngā mihi nui, The ExperienceKart Team

awesome from start to finish
EVERYTHING about this tour was 10/10. I was very moved with the Mitai Maori Village demonstrations/performances and the lunch was better than i expected! I was hesitant to sign up for the Wai-o-tupa geothermal tour but my husband and I are SO GLAD we did it! We didn’t have much time at the Agrodome sheep farm but it was still very interesting. Our guide, Karthik, was very professional & friendly! His vehicle was clean & comfortable for the long ride (equipped with wifi) and he shared a wealth of knowledge about NZ. He takes great photos too!
Response from the operator: Kia Ora Sandra, Thank you so much for your incredible 5-star review, it truly means the world to us! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that every part of your day was a 10/10 experience. The Mitai Māori Village is such a powerful and moving cultural experience, and we’re so glad it resonated with you, along with the delicious hāngī meal. It’s also wonderful to know that Wai-O-Tapu exceeded your expectations, those surreal geothermal landscapes never fail to impress! We’re so pleased Karthik made your journey even more special with his professionalism, warmth, and passion for sharing New Zealand’s stories. From a comfortable ride to great photos along the way, it sounds like you made the most of your day, just as we hope for every guest. Thank you for trusting us with your experience and for your kind recommendation! Ngā mihi nui, The ExperienceKart Team

Why this scores 77

Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland cost?
+
Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland take?
+
Plan for about 13 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 13-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 13-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
