Sun sand and a private island!

We had an amazing day on the island. Lunch was a fresh caught fish, rice and veggies and the drinks were delicious. The water was perfect for swimming and they provided towels. Boat ride was easy and safe. Would fully recommend to anyone looking for a fun day trip out of the city!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear you had such an amazing day on the island and enjoyed the fresh food, delicious drinks, and beautiful water. It’s great to know you felt comfortable and safe throughout the experience. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again soon for another unforgettable day in Cartagena.

Amazing day, beautiful island

We had such an amazing day with this tour! The island was small and private, and we were almost the only ones there. The beach facilities were lovely, the water was amazing, the staff was very kind, and the food was absolutely delicious. We felt very well taken care of. We ended up doing the optional snorkeling tour that was offered to us when we were on the island — we hesitated at first because we we initially just wanted to chill by the beach, but we absolutely did not regret it. The short boat ride to go to the snorkeling location was really fun and beautiful and brought us around the other islands. The meet-up at the port is a little chaotic (there are a lot of people and boats going to different islands), but you just have to trust the process. The whole organization was very smooth after that.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear that you had such an amazing day and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the island, the beautiful water, and the attentive service from the staff. It’s great to know the food and facilities made your experience even more special. We’re also happy you decided to try the snorkeling tour and that it became a highlight of your visit. Exploring the nearby islands from the water is always a memorable experience. Thank you as well for mentioning the meeting point at the port. It can be a bit busy at times, but we’re glad everything ran smoothly afterward. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again soon

Poor communication, disorganized, and tour cut short

Unfortunately, our experience with this excursion was very disappointing. Upon booking, we were told the meeting time was 8a. On the morning of the tour, I received a message (screenshots attached) saying the meeting time had changed to 815, which I acknowledged. I adjusted plans accordingly for my family group of 11 people, including seniors and young children. While we were walking to the meeting point, I began receiving multiple phone calls from the tour operator. This was difficult because I was simultaneously trying to navigate directions for such a large group. When I answered at 8:09 AM, I explained that we were less than five minutes away. Despite this, the operator was extremely rude and upset that we were “late.” I reminded her that I had been told to arrive at 8:15, but she responded that it was “not her problem” and said they were now running late because of us. When we arrived, we were rushed onto the boat, which was not easy with older family members and small children. Once we arrived at the island, additional issues began. According to the tour description, lunch and a cocktail were included, but instead of the promised cocktail we were given a mocktail. More concerning, we were initially told that my two youngest children (ages 5 and 2) would not be provided food because they were “not included in the package.” I showed proof that I had paid for all 11 guests, including the children. It took almost an hour of back-and-forth with the guide and phone calls to the operator before they finally agreed to provide the meals that were already paid for. The ocean conditions near the island were extremely rough and unsafe for swimming. You could barely stand without being pushed by the current. I asked whether we could be taken to another calmer part of the island, even offering to pay extra so the kids and our older family members could safely enjoy the water. This request was refused, so we ultimately paid a local boat operator $150 ourselves just to go somewhere where the children could actually get in the water. The tour was advertised to run until 3:00 PM but things became even more confusing after that. We arrived at the island around 10:00 AM, spent nearly an hour resolving the lunch issue, and were told lunch would be at 12 PM. I then asked when we would visit the Oceanario, which was the main reason we booked this excursion for our children. The guide said he did not know anything about that stop. I contacted the tour operator again and explained that the Oceanario was specifically why we chose this tour. She later called back and assured us that after lunch we would stop there before returning. However, that stop never happened. Instead, the tour was cut short due; we returned to the mainland about three hours earlier than scheduled. Because the tour ended early and we missed one of the main advertised attractions, I requested a partial refund (50%) from the tour company. Unfortunately, they refused, and I am still trying to resolve the issue. Overall, the experience was stressful and poorly organized. Between the constant phone calls from the operator, the confusion about meals, the missed Oceanario stop, and the shortened tour, it was difficult to enjoy even the small amount of time we had on the island. I wish I could leave a better review, but based on our experience, I would not recommend this excursion or book with this operator again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify several important points for future travelers. Our team remained in contact with you through WhatsApp during the day to coordinate the timing of the activities, including lunch and the planned visit to the Oceanario. At one point during the communication, you also asked us to stop calling so that you could continue enjoying your time on the island. Lunch was provided for all members of your group. There was a brief initial confusion, but it was resolved immediately and all meals included in the reservation were served without any additional charges. During the experience we attempted to contact you again to coordinate the next activity. However, your group decided to travel to another island independently using external transportation that is not related to our operation, without informing us of your location or return time. Because of this, it was not possible to include you in the Oceanario visit, as the tour continued according to the scheduled itinerary with the rest of the guests. The experience itself was provided as booked. Unfortunately, the Oceanario visit could not take place because your group chose to leave the itinerary independently. For this reason, the requested 50% refund could not be approved after the services had already been used. Our goal is always to organize the experience clearly and safely so that all travelers can enjoy the activity.

A 10/10 experience

The boat was very comfortable, and the ride to the island was absolutely spectacular… WE SAW DOLPHINS! A magical and unforgettable moment. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink, and lunch was delicious and very complete. What we loved the most was the crystal-clear water — truly breathtaking. We felt very well taken care of by both Hey Cartagena and the island staff. It was an unforgettable trip. Thank you so much for everything!

Response from the operator: Wow thank you for such an amazing review! We’re absolutely thrilled that you had such a magical experience and you saw dolphins! That’s truly a rare and unforgettable moment, and we’re so happy you got to witness it. We're also glad you enjoyed the comfort of the boat, the warm welcome with a refreshing drink, and the delicious lunch. The crystal clear waters never fail to impress, and it means a lot to know you felt so well taken care of by both our team and the island staff.

Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.

How much does Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience cost?

+

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.

Is Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rosario Islands Day pass | All inclusive Experience start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cartagena?

+

On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cartagena Street Food Tour: 10 Local Tastings in the Walled City, Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena Cooking Class with Local Chef (Small Group Experience). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cartagena?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cartagena?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
