Highly recommended. A truly memorable experience.

My wife and I took our first trip to Europe this August (2026). It was a marvelous cruise that began in Barcelona, included the total solar eclipse, and ended in Rome, the Eternal City. Our cruise package included a walking tour of Rome, so after the ship docked, we took off with a group of mostly older folks to see the great sites. We were dropped off by the Palatine Hill, walked past Circus Maximus, up the street to the Colosseum, past the Roman Forum, and finally down to an area adjacent to Piazza del Popolo. Did I mention that the group, including me, was older and had a variety of mobility challenges? Oh, and it was in the mid-90s with very high humidity. When our tour guide, a friendly fellow named Johnny who kept up a furious pace with virtually no pauses to see or photograph the sites, finally gave us a break, promising to continue the walk for an additional two hours so we could see the Trevi Fountain and other must-see places, we’d already walked some ten thousand steps, were dripping with sweat, and fatigued beyond measure. Several of us elected to end the tour that by this time resembled the Bataan Death March. We found ourselves a kebab and pizza place run by some Turkish brothers, took refuge at a shady sidewalk table, and rehydrated with a few bottles of ice-cold Peroni. The kebab place may have saved my life. By contrast, the next day was completely different. We had booked a day with a private driver through DriverinRome, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny (or, more accurately, one euro cent coin). Our driver, Ricardo, picked us up at our hotel in an air-conditioned Mercedes sedan and asked what we wanted to see. We told him about our walk the day before past the Colosseum, etc., and decided to skip those in favor of taking in as many other sites as the day would allow. It turned out to be a magnificent day. Ricardo was friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and quite personable. Together we mapped out a tour that included the Basilica di San Paolo Fuori le Mura and its jaw-droppingly beautiful interior, the Basilica di San Pietro (with its magnificent statue of Moses sculpted by a young Michelangelo), the Trevi Fountain (where we tossed coins and I got to achieve my dream of singing part of the Sinatra classic “Three Coins in the Fountain while lobbing a half-euro coin into the rippling water). Further highlights included gelato, of course, the Piazza Navona and its magnificent fountain, the Pantheon, the Basilica of Santa Sabina (check it out; it’s fabulous), and St. Peter’s Square. Through it all, Ricardo kept us informed, dropped us off as close as he could to each location, and greeted us after each visit with a huge smile and that wonderfully air-conditioned sedan. We took a break for lunch at a restaurant that Ricardo recommended—Ristorante Campo di Fiori—where we dined on carbonara and veal saltimbocca washed down with cold Pinot Grigio. A genuine Roman delight. Ricardo and DriverinRome gave us a truly memorable experience. One I would heartily recommend to anyone in that magnificent city who is short on time but wants to see as much of the glory of Rome as possible.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful and detailed review of your experience with DriverInRome Tours and Transportation! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you and your wife had such a memorable day exploring Rome with Ricardo. It sounds like you made the most of your time in the Eternal City, and we’re especially happy that the flexibility of a private tour allowed you to customize the day around your interests and energy level. We’re glad Ricardo’s friendly service, local knowledge, and comfortable air-conditioned Mercedes made your sightseeing experience enjoyable—especially after a very warm and demanding day of walking! We also love hearing that you were able to visit so many incredible places, from the Basilica of San Paolo Fuori le Mura and the Pantheon to Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, and St. Peter’s Square. And of course, we’re happy Ricardo helped make your “Three Coins in the Fountain” moment possible! 😊 We will certainly share your kind words with Ricardo. Thank you again for choosing DriverInRome and for your heartfelt recommendation. It was our pleasure to be part of your first European adventure, and we hope to welcome you back to Rome someday! Grazie mille and safe travels! 🇮🇹

We had an exceptional experience with our chauffeur service in Rome. Our driver Andy was top notch — he arrived early, had cold waters ready for us all day, kept the car cool in the hot weather, and always went above and beyond, including never missing an opportunity to open doors for us. Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing cost?

+

Prices start at $246 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rome Private Car & Chauffeur for Business, Shopping, Sightseeing start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
