My tour was changed at...
My tour was changed at the last minute from the afternoon tour to the evening tour because I was the only one scheduled in the afternoon. When I got on for the evening tour, it ended up. I was the only one on for that tour. My driver Giuseppe was excellent. Unfortunately, on the evening tour I did not get to see all of the things that were listed on the tour I signed up for. We did not go to the Spanish steps or a couple of the plaza. Saint Peter Square was closed so there were some disappointments. Also many landmarks that we passed were so dark I could not take pictures. I did of course get a dinner that I wasn’t scheduled to have and it was delicious. In retrospect, I would have rather done the afternoon tour. I think I would have seen more, which was the point of my scheduling. I would recommend the tour but not the evening tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about Giuseppe. I’m sorry the evening version didn’t deliver everything you hoped for. Just to clarify the change: we reached out beforehand to ask if you’d like to move from the afternoon to the evening departure, and so you wouldn’t miss out we included dinner and gelato complimentary. We suggested the switch because our shared tours are usually more enjoyable with multiple guests (you meet people and the experience feels livelier). Unfortunately, the other two participants who were booked for that slot became ill at the last minute, which left you as the only guest something outside our control. Regarding the missed stops (e.g., the Spanish Steps and some piazzas) and St. Peter’s Square being closed, I understand the disappointment night conditions and occasional closures can affect visibility and access. Since you were solo, we could have tailored the route more around your preferences; we’re sorry if that wasn’t made clear in the moment. We’ve reminded our team to proactively offer customized stops whenever a shared tour becomes a one-guest experience. Thank you again for the review your input genuinely helps us improve.

We were taken to every...
We were taken to every site we wanted to see. Our driver took us to some "out of the way" spots most tourists don't visit. I wanted to walk on the Appian Way, and he took us to a spot where the original stones still there. He also took us to a beautiful park in the shadow of an aqueduct. A great 4 hours with a pleasant and knowledgeable driver.
Response from the operator: What a pleasure to read this! You didn’t just visit Rome you felt it. The ancient stones of the Appian Way and the quiet under the aqueduct’s arches aren’t on every postcard, but they’re in every Roman’s heart. We’re so glad your time with us included those little corners that speak louder than the crowds. Thank you for sharing your experience it truly means a lot to us. We hope to have you back on board our tours across Italy very soon!

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $186 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 98 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour?
+
Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rome Highlights Half-Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
