A perfect photography morning in Rome.
My wife and I had an amazing experience with Giulio as our guide in Rome. We are photographers and wanted to see the city through the eyes of an experienced photographer. His knowledge and passion for his city were amazing…as were his photography lessons and tips. He knew the perfect places…secret places and how to access them…for us to make some beautiful images. He knows his history too…able to tells stories or answer any questions. We had an amazing morning of photography with Giulio and feel like we made a friend.
Response from the operator: Hello Craig and Diane, I apologize for the very late reply to your fantastic review, but since we had the tour together, I was extremely busy with other tours, and with the organization of my photo exhibition "Interpreting Landscapes - Another Italy". The vernissage that took place on May 29th, in Todi, went really well. The attendance was great, the people loved the photos, and I even had a huge media coverage, that you can find on the internet and on my FB page. Talking of which, I just sent you a friendship request. Well, enough about me... I am very glad you enjoyed the photo tour, and I hope you are happy and fully satisfied with the photos you shot. As I said during the walk we had, if you want to select ten of them, and send them to me, I will be more than happy to give you my feedback and to edit them. I look forward to hearing from you, and, hopefully, to see you again in the not too far future Cheers, Giulio

Rich deep history and stunning ruins. The guide was engaging and informative, but the tour could’ve been slower-paced.
Response from the operator: Hello there, The review you wrote is not related to the photo tours I provide. I do believe you misplaced it posting it on my page rather than on the page you had the tour with. I would truly appreciate if you could kindly remove it from my page. Thanks a lot for your coopeation. Best regards, Giulio D'Ercole

Truly wonderful
Giulio knows exactly where to take you for the best photo opportunities in the city and the best time of day to be in specific places. He is so knowledgeable about the city and helped me to take some really amazing photos even though I was only using my iPhone 15 pro. He is an expert photographer who can assist you to take your photography skills to new heights. He is patient, friendly, lets you go at your own pace, and takes you from one amazing sight to another, what an outstanding experience.
Response from the operator: Dear Susan, Thanks a lot for your wonderful and enthusiastic review.Knowing that I fulfilled, and maybe exceeded your expectations, and coming to know that trough my four hours photo walk in Rome you can, from now on, take better photos, is indeed rewarding and truly satisfactory. Let me also add that it was a real pleasure meeting you, and having the chance to have a really nice evening with you, while walking, chatting, and taking photos in my beautiful town. I hope to see you again in the future for more photography workshop(s), maybe in other Regions of Italy. In fact, if you have plans to visit Tuscany, Umbria, Apulia, or Venice, please be aware that I provide photo tours in these places as well. To know more about it, please check Italy Photo Fun Tours, keeping in mind that each tour can be customized according to your time availability and requests. Best regards, Giulio

Worth every minute for an American in Rome
Giulio was a wonderful guide, for both photography and Italian culture. As an American I appreciated his cultural insight. His knowledge of the area and its details was impressive. A kind and patient person to spend a few hours with. He adjusts to the skill level of the participant(s) and I recommend his tour for a novice or an expert and all in between. His communication after booking and before the event was perfect.
Response from the operator: Hello Tim, Thanks a lot for your very kind words of appreciation regarding both my tour per se and me as a person to spend time with. I really appreciate that. It was also my true pleasure meeting you, and sharing with you my knowledge of Rome while suggesting what and how to photograph it. As I told you during our walk if you should ever come back to Italy, by yourself or with a couple of friends also interested in photography, be aware that from February 2024, I will start offering multi-day tours, in Rome and Latium, Umbria, Tuscany, and Apulia, four amazing and very photogenic regions in the center and south Italy. From 2025, I will also add packages to Venezia and Slovenia. These tours will be fully customized holistic multiday journeys, tailored around your wishes, and time availability. If you should be interested in them, I would be more than happy to discuss the different options and itineraries together. In the meantime, thanks again for your wonderful 5-star review. Best regards, Giulio

A wonderful tour! Highly recommended
Our photography tour with Giulio was wonderful! The 4 hours flew past despite rather wet weather. Giulio took us to a variety of places in Central Rome, some iconic Roman sights, some lesser known spots. Giulio provided invaluable advice on shooting settings, angles and general advice on photography techniques. Whilst I usually rely on shooting in "p", Giulio helped me to use the manual settings, with very pleasing results. My husband accompanied us as a non photographer and was entertained throughout by Giulio's historic and social commentary en route. We hope to do another tour, either in Rome or further afield, with Giulio next year. Highly recommended.
Response from the operator: Hello Maggie, First of all, I must apologize for replying to you only now, but on November 11th, two days before you wrote your review, I had hip replacement surgery, and I got back to my routine only two days ago, including having the right mind and concentration to sit at the computer. Secondly, I want to sincerely thank you for the very kind words you spent about me and my tour in your very much appreciated five-star feedback. I hope that you are fully satisfied with the photos you took during the tour, and that they represent a beautiful memory of Rome in your mind and photo album. I look forward to seeing you again in my beautiful town, whenever you will decide to come back. Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop cost?
+
Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 14. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rome by Day, Beauty and History Unique Photo Tour and Workshop start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
