Great Romantic Road trip to Rothenburg

Karl was our private driver for the marvelous day from Munich to Rothenburg via the Romantic Road. We started with a private tour of Marburg Castle. Then we continued on through several towns along the Romantic Road and walked through some of them before spending a few hours in Rothenburg. We returned via the autobahn. It was a great day. Karl gave us so much information about the area and was accommodating with our stops along the way.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to write this wonderful review! I'm really glad that you were so satisfied with our guide colleague Karl as well as with our tour concept. To avoid confusing other guests who are interested in this tour, please allow me to point out that the castle which can be visited as part of an exclusive private tour is the 'Harburg' (and not 'Marburg') :-) I wish you continued great travels and would be delighted to welcome you again as our guests soon! A Perfect Day Exploring Fairytale Germany

Our family of four absolutely loved our day with Karl. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible while still keeping us on schedule without feeling rushed at all. He made great suggestions for lunch/food, shopping, and activities for free time in Rothenburg, and he seemed to really enjoy showing us around in general. We finished the tour having a much deeper understanding of the Bavarian area especially with the Nuremberg add on. The day went by so quickly. I highly recommend this tour.

Pretty Towns and Great Optional Castle Tour

Our guide, Karl, was patient and kind. We opted to add on the Harberg Castle tour and Nuremberg which made for an extremely long day and probably decreased the time we spent in the towns. I highly recommend the Harberg Castle tour. It was definitely a highlight. Read up on the history of the towns before you go, so you have good context.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to write this review in which you shared your personal impressions. We are very pleased that you — like many other participants on our tours — were so satisfied with your guide Karl and our tour concept, especially the exclusive 45-minute private tour in Harburg Castle. Please allow me to comment on your expression 'an extremely long day and probably decreased the time we spent in the towns' as follows: We offer all our tours with 2 tour lengths (9.5 and 11 hours). If you would also like to visit Nuremberg, this is also possible with 2 time options (for an additional charge, see tour description): Option 'a': The tour length you booked will not be exceeded. Option 'b': You receive 1 extra hour additionally. So you see, our valued customers can always decide for themselves regarding the length of this tour and thus the time available for sightseeing in the individual towns. Furthermore: To "have good context", it is not necessary to "read up on the history of the towns before you go", as you will receive this (and many more) information from our professional and experienced guides, as can be seen from past reviews, which have all been rated 5***** The entire SIGHTSEEING BAVARIA EXCLUSIVE team (including me, Stefan, the owner) would be happy to welcome you back as our guests soon!

Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.

How much does Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber cost?

    +

Prices start at $218 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber take?

    +

Plan for about 9.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.

Is Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 44 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 9.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Romantic Road Exclusive Private Tour from Munich to Rothenburg ob der Tauber start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Munich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Munich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Munich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
