Learn authentic homemade Indian Sattvic Food from beautiful soul Miss Anju
Miss Anju was so lovely and I learned to cook authentic homemade Indian sattvic food. Her place is also very beautiful and quiet since it is all the way up in the upper part of upper Tapovan. If I knew, I would have stayed at her place since it’s so beautiful and peaceful. Next time I visit Rishikesh I will stay at her place. I learned how to make roti chapati from scratch, paneer dish, yellow dal, rice and a mildly sweet cashew halwa. Everything was so tasty. She packed some leftovers for me too and I ate the rest for dinner. Indian food at restaurants compared to home-style is so different. If all you know is Indian food from restaurants, this cooking class experience will open your eyes to what Indian food tastes like in Indian households. Whether sattvic or not, Indian food cooked at home is similar approach to anywhere in the world - when you cook at home, most people use less salt, less fat, less grease, less pungency and acidity for a more balance mild flavor and taste that is better for your gut and teaches you how to eat slowly and really taste and saveur the meal you or someone else prepared. Miss Anju also gave me a henna tattoo which was so sweet of her. Thank you so much and I highly recommend. I am going to do another class with her before I end my trip to learn more dishes.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful and detailed review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your authentic Indian Sattvic cooking class with Anju Ji in Rishikesh. It is wonderful to hear that you learned how to prepare traditional homemade Indian dishes such as roti chapati, paneer, yellow dal, rice, and cashew halwa. Our goal is to give visitors a genuine experience of Indian home cooking, and we are happy that you could taste the difference between restaurant food and healthy homemade meals. We are also glad that you appreciated the peaceful location in Upper Tapovan, surrounded by nature and away from the busy areas of Rishikesh. Creating a calm and welcoming environment is very important to us. Your kind words about Anju Ji's hospitality, the henna tattoo, and the takeaway meal mean a lot. She truly loves sharing Indian culture, traditions, and family recipes with guests from around the world. Thank you for recommending this cooking experience. We look forward to welcoming you back for another cooking class and helping you discover even more traditional Indian dishes during your next visit to Rishikesh. Warm regards, Anju Ji & Team Authentic Sattvic Cooking Classes in Rishikesh

A great taste of north indian cuisine!
Lovely instructor. Anju welcomed us to her kitchen, and we made amazing Indian vegeterian food with lots of excotic spices. In the end we ate everything. 3 hours of fun.

Authentic Indian Cooking with a Kind and Talented Teacher
Today I had the pleasure of enjoying a cooking class with Miss Anju at the Hotel Home Homestay. Miss Anju is a woman with deep knowledge of Indian cooking and Ayurvedic nutrition. She is also very kind and friendly, and you can talk with her about any topic. She teaches very well —clear, organized, and precise in her explanations and in the preparation of all the condiments, ingredients, and spices you’ll use. She shows each ingredient separately in small individual bowls so that you can become familiar with them, and she guides you step by step through the whole process. In just one class we prepared three different dishes, we also cooked rice, and she explained how to make chapati. I’m really looking forward to taking my second class with her, where she will teach me how to prepare traditional Indian desserts. Thank you very much for your kindness and professionalism, Miss Anju. If you come to Rishikesh, don’t miss her cooking class — it’s unique! You won’t regret it. 🌿
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so happy to know you enjoyed the cooking class with Miss Anju at her homestay . She truly loves sharing her knowledge of Indian cuisine and Ayurvedic cooking. We’ll pass along your kind words to her — she’ll be delighted! We look forward to welcoming you again soon for your next class on traditional Indian desserts.

New food, new friends, new fun
I enjoyed learning to prepare a few Indian dishes so that I can make them when I go home. Anju was lovely and clearly a maestro in the kitchen. Everything was very clean and well organized. I was the only attendee this morning but Anju made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed meeting a few of the house guests, she showed me the rooms they have available and I would definitely stay at Om Guesthouse on my next visit to Rishikesh. The current guests told me it is so quiet at night and such a comfortable temperature for sleeping. They also have a view of the mountain rather than the back of another building as I do. This is my first trip to India and Rishikesh, so I will know what to look for on my next visit. Thank you Anju and family!!

Anju truly enjoys sharing her love for local food in Rishikesh, and we’re glad you appreciated her warm hospitality and attention to detail. It’s also lovely to know you felt comfortable at Om Guesthouse and enjoyed meeting other guests. The staff here is your true family and they literally go extra mile for their students. I will be back for my 300 hours soon. Extra tips: You can't find this kind of course in such price. Don't miss this opportunity 🙏

Why this scores 82
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rishikesh.
How much does Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rishikesh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rishikesh is not rushed.
Is Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rishikesh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rishikesh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rishikesh and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rishikesh: Sattvic Ayurvedic Cooking Class – Cook & Dine start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rishikesh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rishikesh?
+
On Outty we rank every Rishikesh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Sunrise Taj Mahal Tour from Delhi By Car -All inclusive, Half Day Rafting in Rishikesh - 26 Km., Har Ki dun Trek by Himalaya Shelter. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rishikesh?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rishikesh?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
