Two adults, two children and a perfect guide: Camilla.

We had an exceptional experience with Camila, our guide in Rio de Janeiro. Her care was impeccable: attentive, patient and always very careful with every detail. She introduced us to Rio in a light, fun and extremely rich in information, perfectly balancing gastronomy, culture and local curiosities. Even traveling with children – an 11-month-old baby and my 8-year-old son – she managed to adapt the script so everyone could get the most out of it. Her attention made all the difference. My husband, who previously did not have a good impression of Rio, returned enchanted and already thinks of returning. We recommend Camila with closed eyes. Dedicated, prepared and passionate professional for what she does. A real hostess of Rio.

    Best tour guide in Rio

Camila is a fantastic tour guide. Her energy is contagious, and her love for her city makes it one of the best tours we've ever experienced. She showed us her favorite spots in Rio, where we sampled amazing food and drinks throughout the day, while also visiting some pretty special sites. She adapted the tour to our preferences and timings, which was a plus. We felt safe and happy all day, we learned a lot about Rio and Brazil in general, and now have adopted all her favorite restaurants and places as our favorites too. Don't hesitate to book a tour with Camila, we're sure you will have the best day in Rio!

The tour operator didn't make the tour today.

The tour operator said that everything is closed today. She didn't receive any confirmation. I couldn't contact her at all until later today around 1pm. The tour didn't happen. I had to call viator and asked for a fully refund

Response from the operator: No payment or payment information was received. Please note that on Christmas Day everything is closed in Rio de Janeiro therefore that was no need to check for tours-scheduled for that date. We do like to apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused.

    Great day with Camila!

This was the second tour with Camila and it was glorious! The food tour was beautifully and thoughtfully paced, allowing us to sample various Carioca delicacies that we would never experience on our own! We saw lovely sights along the way, experiences a bit of local culture and saw the city through the beautiful eyes of a native! So fun and wonderful! I highly recommend this experience!

An informative Guide to the Food and History of Rio de Janeiro

Camilla was very well dedicated and informed. She has well replenished all the questions we had and it was evident that she knows very well the history of Rio de Janeiro and its food. Before starting the visit, Camilla asked us what we have done and then modified the program for the day. It was an interesting and informative day especially the information about Brazilian food and we have been able to treat many very rich things. Camilla was friendly and was easy to spend a day with. We recommend it with the highest confidence.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rio de Janeiro.

How much does Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods cost?

    +

Prices start at $147 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rio de Janeiro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rio de Janeiro is not rushed.

Is Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rio de Janeiro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods suitable for kids and families?

    +

How far in advance should I book Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rio de Janeiro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rio de Janeiro and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rio Culture and History & Traditional Foods start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rio de Janeiro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rio de Janeiro?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rio de Janeiro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pedra da Gávea hike, your best experience in Rio, Favela Tour Rio de Janeiro - Vidigal Walking Tour by Russo Guide, Rio's Full Day: Selarón Steps, Christ & Sugarloaf – Tickets & Lunch Included. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rio de Janeiro?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
