10/10 Highly recommend this tour if you’re staying in the Playa Flamingo area!
Highly recommend this tour if you’re staying in the Playa Flamingo area! Our guides, Alberto and Miguel, were fantastic. Alberto was incredibly knowledgeable, hilarious, and clearly passionate about Costa Rica’s wildlife. We were picked up directly from our Airbnb, and he was kind and talkative throughout the drive, answering all of our questions and telling us about the animals we might see. Our first stop was coffee and bathroom breaks which was much needed ! On the way to the sanctuary, we even stopped to see a sloth! Our first stop was at the waterfall we could swim at! Don’t worry about having to pack your swimsuit in a bag to hike with because it was a short walk down. Glad we brought towels and we got some really good pictures and swam quite a bit. We then had time to change in a restroom before heading off to the sanctuary. When we arrived at the sanctuary, we were introduced to another guide named Daniel. Daniel was amazing and with his help, we were able to see tree frogs, toucans, an eyelash pit viper, poison dart frogs, and lots of birds. You could tell how passionate our guide was about the animals. He also took photos for everyone through his telescope, which was such a nice touch. The walk through the sanctuary was relatively easy, with only slight inclines. It was a fairly short walk, but we stopped frequently to look at animals, so the whole experience took about an hour. Daniel, was also extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. After the sanctuary, we went to a local restaurant for a buffet-style lunch. We could choose from beef, chicken, or fish, along with traditional sides like rice, beans, plantains, pasta salad, and hearts of palm. There were also tropical juices, and lunch was included in the tour. We were able to walk down from the restaurant to the river, which was absolutely stunning and such a beautiful blue. I only wish we had had more time to swim there! After lunch, we headed to the famous Río Celeste. This part was definitely more of a hike, and a few of the less-active members of our group stayed behind at the restaurant and souvenir shop with the driver. Alberto hiked with us, telling us about the area and sharing stories about his experience growing up in Costa Rica, which made the hike even more enjoyable. On the way we saw a wandering spider behind a leaf as well as a green eyelash pit viper( it was incredibly small) We were there during the rainy season, so the water wasn’t quite as intensely blue as it can be in photos, but it was still absolutely stunning. After the hike, we loaded back into the vehicle and stopped at a souvenir shop. They had delicious drinks and pastries, as well as chocolate and all sorts of other things to purchase. We all left the tour happy, tired, and very satisfied with the experience. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone staying in the Playa Flamingo area. The guides were wonderful, the wildlife was incredible, and the tour gave us a really nice combination of wildlife, nature, food, culture, and Río Celeste! Tour guide and driver : Miguel & Alberto

Beautiful hike! Do it!
Oscar was a great guide! He is so knowledgeable and very patient! It was an absolutely beautiful hike! It is definitely a moderate to strenuous hike with lots of steps. Wear hiking boots and use bug spray.

A must book!
Great tour! Our guide Johnny was great at spotting all types of animals and was very knowledgeable. He accommodated our time schedule but still felt like we got our money worth. Also was great at taking pictures of us along the way. The waterfall itself is a decent walk up and down but worth it for the views. At the end of the hike we finished with fresh coconuts from the stand!

What a fantastic experience! Byron was an amazing guide—extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does. We learned so much about animals and plants, had an incredible time, and enjoyed every single moment. I would 100% recommend Byron as your guide!

Great Guide - Great Communication
We had an excellent experience with our guide Manfred - he was very excited to share his deep knowledge of the rainforest plants and animals and was very friendly. We saw toucans, white faced monkeys, an ant eater, a vine snake, hummingbirds, and a coati. While the stairs to the river were cut off half way, we still had an excellent time.
