    Excellent introduction to Reykjavik

A great introduction to Reykjavik! Our driver picked us up on time from our cruise ship, took us to our hotel to drop off our bags, and then took us on a tour of key sites throughout the city. This was not a guided tour, but our driver, Valinca, had been to each of the sites personally and was able to recommend the best way to spend our time at each stop. Valinca was an excellent driver and dropped us off at the closest possible place to each location. He was patient with us and very flexible with our time at each location so we were able to get a good overview of each site. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

Response from the operator: Dear, Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that Valinca helped make your first experience of Reykjavik so enjoyable. It’s great to know that his local knowledge, flexibility, and excellent driving made it easy for you to explore the city at your own pace. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back to Iceland again in the future!

Awful Tour. Do Not Waste your Money.

We thought we booked a 3 hour tour of the city with a knowledgeable guide who could show us the city and tell us interesting facts of what we were seeing. It was the worse private tour I have ever experienced. Took us to a few places, said this is famous, dropped us off with no explanation of what we were seeing and gave us a time to be back at the car. No history of the city was given as he barely spoke. As we never been here before and he knew that, he asked us for suggestions of where we should go. We also had to make him stop to get us water which was included in the price. When we asked him aboutsome historical facts, he needed to look it up before answering us. This was no more than one long cab ride, I could have rented a car with a Google map app and had a better experience. I think I deserve a refund as this was a car ride and not a tour experience and not worth the cost.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Before addressing the points in your review, we would like to clarify that the tour started approximately 35 minutes later than scheduled due to your late arrival at the pickup location. Despite this delay, our driver made every effort to complete the tour and provide the best possible experience without charging any additional waiting time. After carefully reviewing your booking and the GPS tracking data from the vehicle, we would like to clarify several important points. First, the service you booked was our private driving tour without a licensed tour guide. This product includes a professional driver who takes guests to Reykjavík's main attractions, but it is not advertised or sold as a fully guided tour with a certified guide providing detailed historical commentary throughout the journey. According to our tracking records, your driver followed the planned itinerary and took you to all eight attractions included in the package. At each stop, the driver advised you of the recommended amount of time to spend there in order to complete the full itinerary. Our records also show that you chose to spend approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes at Perlan Museum, which was significantly longer than the scheduled stop. This understandably reduced the time available for the remaining attractions and affected the overall pace of the tour. Regarding the refreshments, our driver politely offered you complimentary water or coffee, and you chose coffee. You also requested an additional stop for hot dogs, which added more than 20 minutes to the tour. We were happy to accommodate this request at no extra charge. We maintain detailed GPS tracking and operational records for all of our tours, and these records confirm that the agreed service was provided. We fully respect every guest's right to share honest feedback. However, we also believe it is important that reviews accurately reflect the service that was booked and delivered. Your review describes expectations that differ from the product you reserved and omits several key facts, which may give future travelers an inaccurate impression of the service. For these reasons, we cannot agree with your request for a refund, as the booked service was delivered as agreed. We remain committed to providing professional, transparent, and reliable service to all of our guests.

We were a group of 4....

We were a group of 4. Eirikur, our tour guide, was very good. Since this was a private tour, he customized it to meet our requests.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so pleased you enjoyed your private tour with Eirikur. We hope to welcome you back to Iceland again soon!

Reykjavik City Tour Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Reykjavik City Tour Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $471 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Reykjavik City Tour Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Reykjavik City Tour Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Reykjavik City Tour Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Reykjavik City Tour Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Reykjavik City Tour Experience?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Reykjavik City Tour Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
