Saw dolphins while kayaking!
Wonderful experience! My husband and I rented kayaks (very reasonable price compared to many places we have rented on various trips). We were instructions for safety and best places to watch for wildlife. We saw dolphins 3 different times!! Great views from the water, kayaks were dry and oars were in great shape! Life jacket had a pocket for your phone! Great experience, highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for taking the time to write the review! Most of our guests do our guided tours but for anyone reading this we want you to know that if you have some kayaking experience and want to go out on your own we do offer rentals as well. We will happily go over the area with you, tell you about the tides and check weather forecasts as well as tell you where we expect you should be able to find some dolphins! Again thanks for taking the time to write the review and we are glad you had a fun experience and were able to find dolphins 3 different times! We hope to see you again on your next visit to Hilton Head! Dave

Our Favorite HHI Kayak Outfitter
This is our go to place to rent kayaks when we visit HHI. We’ve visited HHI routinely for 15+ years and have used other outfitters but once we’ve found Kayak Hilton Head, we’ve never gone elsewhere. It is extremely convenient now that they allow you to book rentals online instead of having to call a rental reservation in. The team is always helpful with giving tips for dealing with the conditions, spotting dolphins, seeing other wildlife and staying out of trouble. Their guided tours are always staffed with knowledgeable guides but we always go on our own now since we know “the lay of the land”. Their prices have always been extremely competitive with the other outfitters and their location is a great place for getting out and seeing the wildlife. I don’t think there has been a kayak excursion where we haven’t seen at least one dolphin when we’ve rented from Kayak Hilton Head.
Response from the operator: Thanks you so much for voting us your "Favorite HHI Kayak Outfitter"! We try real hard to make sure everyone feels that way and have had countless customers that have tried another outfitter on a visit before finding us to then go on a tour with us and tell us how much more they enjoyed their time with Kayak Hilton Head. Our staff is full of locals that have been with us for many years and it's nice to know that all of our training and caring for our guests shows through! As the owner it's very important to me that everyone that comes with us feels like they had a great experience. I thank my staff everyday for the great job they do. I do my very best to make this a fun place to work and it's great seeing our staff come back year after year and show up day after day with a smile on their face and a great attitude! Happy staff usually leads to happy customers and I want to thank you for writing this review and thank every last on of our customers over our 26 years in business and all the great staff that work here! Lots of wildlife
If you love seeing wildlife, this is a great paddle! We saw lots of dolphins, oysters, fish, and a large variety of birds.
Response from the operator: We are glad the dolphins were cooperative, they almost always are since they feed and relax most all day in the area that we paddle! Thanks so much for joining us and also thanks for taking the time to write a review! We hope to see you again!

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hilton Head Island.
How much does Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hilton Head Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hilton Head Island is not rushed.
Is Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hilton Head Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hilton Head Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hilton Head Island and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Rent Kayaks in Hilton Head Island start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hilton Head Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hilton Head Island?
+
Hilton Head sells dolphin and sunset cruises out of Broad Creek, kayak and boat trips through Lowcountry salt marsh, bike rentals for the island trail network and shrimping demonstrations. On Outty we rank every Hilton Head Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2-Hour Hilton Head Guided Kayak Nature Tour, Hilton Head Island Dolphin Boat Cruise, Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hilton Head Island?
+
March to May and September to November, warm without peak summer crowds. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hilton Head Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
