An Outstanding Experience
Amazing, detailed, historic and absolutely wonderful. We all go with preconcieved notions of something but this tour was beyond words, we felt like we just learned what was worth a semester of art school! Thank you Hernan! It will stay with us for a lifetime. Both as a memory and as unique knowledge that we can share with our friends and community.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! Reading your review truly means a lot to us, and especially to Hernan. One of the greatest joys of our work at Madrid Museum Tours is helping visitors discover art, history, and Madrid in a deeper and more personal way, so knowing that the experience stayed with you so strongly is very special for us. Thank you again for your trust, your curiosity, and your enthusiasm throughout the tour. We are so happy that the memories and stories will continue traveling with you and being shared with your friends and community. We hope to welcome you back again someday in Madrid! Warm regards, The Team at Madrid Museum Tours

Irina is a great guide and art historian
We thought we understood modern art until we met Irina. Her exposition of the relationship between the classical artists and the moderns was especially noteworthy. The museum is enormous; she guided us to particular pieces, with plenty of time to roam freely after the tour, roughly two hours.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly delighted to hear that your experience with Irina helped bring a new understanding of modern art. Connecting the classical masters with modern artists is one of the most special parts of the visit, and we’re so glad you enjoyed it. It’s also great to know you appreciated the balance between guided explanation and time to explore on your own. Thank you again for your kind words—we hope to welcome you back again soon! A wonderful afternoon at the Reina Sofia
I recently booked a Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour and am so happy that I found them here on Trip Advisor. The tour was a highlight of my trip to Madrid. My guide was Hernan who met us by the entrance. (We had purchased our tickets to the museum in advance.) Earlier in the day he had sent us a file which served as background information on items we would be seeing during the tour. It was very helpful. My goal was to see Picasso’s Guernica, and thanks to Hernan, I learned so much more about that painting than I ever would have learned through an audio tour. We also spent time talking about Miro, Gris and Dali as well as seeing their paintings. I left not only with a better understanding of the art but also of modern Spanish history. I highly recommend this tour. It is a wonderful experience for adults as the subject matter can be difficult.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful review. We are truly grateful that you chose us for your Reina Sofía Museum tour and that it became a highlight of your trip to Madrid. It means a great deal to hear that the background material Hernán shared in advance was helpful and enriched your experience. We strongly believe that understanding the historical and artistic context—especially for a masterpiece like Picasso’s Guernica—allows the painting to speak in a much deeper and more powerful way. We are delighted that you not only connected with Guernica, but also enjoyed exploring the works of Miró, Gris, and Dalí, and that the tour helped illuminate aspects of modern Spanish history as well. That is exactly the kind of meaningful experience we hope to create for our guests. Thank you again for your kind recommendation. It was truly a pleasure to guide you, and we hope to welcome you back to Madrid in the future. Warmest regards, The Team at Madrid Museum Tours

More Than Just a Guided Tour
I hoped to get a detailed perspective on Picasso and the cultural life of Spain in the time of the Spanish civil war and the years leading to it Our tour guide, Hernan, was more professor/lecturer than guide. I liked that. It was a bit challenging mentally. I also liked the resources provided for additional study. It was more than a look at art that I wanted to see but a study of that art.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly delighted to know that you enjoyed your private tour of the Reina Sofía Museum. It’s always a pleasure to share the stories and emotions behind Picasso’s Guernica and the masterpieces of modern art with such appreciative guests. Your kind words mean a lot to our team and to your guide — they inspire us to keep offering meaningful, personalized experiences in Madrid’s finest museums. We hope to welcome you again soon for another art-filled adventure! Warm regards

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.
How much does Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $279 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.
Is Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Reina Sofia Museum Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Madrid?
+
On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Madrid?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Madrid?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
