    Marinarium Parks - Reef Explorer

It is not worth the money. There is no fish in the snorkeling area at all, unless you trow some bread so fish jump up eats and run away. the enclosure for shark, and sting ray was just an enclosure, both shark and sting rays are at the very bottom and hard to see. They bring up a stingray to take picture with but they would NOT allow you to take your own picture, they take the picture and sell it to you for $40 . Not very cool, to tell us when you are in the water. They ask for tip too, which is I already paid for the excursion, they don't let me take picture up close, and ask for tip too. overall, this excursion was NOT great either.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sincerely sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Regarding the snorkeling experience, our excursion takes place in a natural marine environment where fish are naturally present in the area, and their visibility may vary. As a result, the amount of marine life visible may vary depending on the conditions on the day of your visit. As for the sharks and stingrays, they are free to move throughout the aquarium. Species such as these naturally spend much of their time resting and feeding on or near the ocean floor, so their behavior reflects what would be expected in their natural habitat. We are also sorry that our photography policy left you disappointed. We understand how special these moments with the stingrays are, and it can be frustrating not to be able to capture them exactly as you had hoped. However, for safety and operational reasons, close-up photos during the interaction are taken exclusively by our professional photographers, and personal close-up photography is not permitted. Regarding gratuities, tipping is entirely optional. Guests are never expected to leave a tip, and our team is formed to ensure no pressure is ever placed on the cutomers. We will continue reinforcing this policy. At the end of the excursion, the guide simply informs guests that a tip box is available should they wish to leave a gratuity for the crew. Thank you once again for sharing your experience. Your feedback is valuable as we continue improving our excursions, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.

Amazing experience, all you need in one place

This excursion was a blast I had all I was looking for, free snorkeling time, kayaking, the water bicycle was just amazing. The lady that did my massage knew what she was doing, I’ll do it all over again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the variety of activities, from snorkeling and kayaking to the water bicycle experience. It's especially great to know that your massage was a highlight and that our therapist made such a positive impression. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back for another unforgettable day with us!

    Lots of snorkeling time!

Pick up and drop off was included as stated. Driver showed us around area with crocodile, iguanas, etc when we first arrived. Got checked in went to a waiting area with bathrooms available. Multiple different group tours start about the same time. Group of about 30 started with a short (~10 minutes) open boat ride to a semi-permanent dock type "island." Had roped in areas to snorkel with stingrays and sharks, and an open area with a small reef. Another tour group stopped and snorkeled nearby. Very little instruction with snorkeling. Sea scooters and flippers available. Had sea-view floats for those who don't like snorkeling to see underwater. Kayaks, paddle boards, and sea hammocks available to use. Waist floats provided. Bar area with snacks (ham and cheese or cheese sandwiches, chips and salsa, fruits, coconut, etc) and non-alcoholic drinks (pop, water). Had a few tables in shade and loungers in the sun. Massage was 15 minutes on a massage table and decent. Best part was being able to do what you want for a long time. We snorkeled for almost the whole time. Had 2 composting toilets on the dock, good balance is helpful since they're not attached and dock moves :-) with hand sanitizer. Would recommend if you want one place to stay and be able to choose what you want to do.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Reef Explorer, Tara. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the variety of activities available and that the flexibility of the excursion allowed you to spend most of your time snorkeling and exploring the underwater world. It is wonderful to know that you appreciated the different marine encounters, the relaxation areas, the refreshments, and the opportunity to enjoy the experience at your own pace. We are also pleased that our transportation service and team helped make your day enjoyable from the moment you arrived. Your detailed feedback provides a great overview of the experience and will certainly be helpful to future guests. Thank you for recommending Reef Explorer. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure in Punta Cana.

    Avoid this tour

I will start by saying all the people in the Punta Cana are just so lovely, including the guides on this tour BUT this tour was awful. $155 per person , to see fish and sharks in cages !! This was NOT snorkeling !! Food served only included , fruit, fruit smoothies and dry sandwich with one slice of ham and cheese. I did not do the massage as it was unhygienic. DO NOT waste your $ on this tour. Total rip off.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and for your kind words about our team. We regret that your experience fell short of your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important points. Our excursion is designed as a marine and reef experience, including guided snorkeling and designated areas where guests can safely observe nurse sharks and stingrays. These animals are within a delimited ocean area where guests can observe them safely in a natural environment. Regarding snorkeling, guests are free to explore the reef area, and guided tours are available for those who wish to cover longer distances. We understand that expectations can differ and regret that this did not match yours. In addition to snorkeling, the Reef Explorer experience also includes activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, and access to different marine areas, offering a more complete experience beyond snorkeling alone. Concerning the food, we provide light refreshments throughout the experience, including smoothies, sandwiches, and snacks such as fresh fruit, nachos and vegetable sticks. Our sandwiches are prepared fresh, so we will review this with the team to understand what may have happened during your visit. Regarding the massage area, hygiene protocols are in place, including changing linens and sanitizing equipment between each guest. We will reinforce this with the team to ensure it is clearly visible. We regret that your experience did not reflect the standards we aim to provide and appreciate your feedback. Kind regards, Marinarium Parks

Very disappointing — a complete waste of £117 and our time.

The sharks and stingrays were kept in small enclosures. The sharks appeared stressed and were all grouped tightly in one corner, which was uncomfortable to watch. The stingray was repeatedly taken out of the water so guests could take photos with it, which did not seem respectful to the animal. The food was very basic — just a few sandwiches and some fruit. When I asked for a coffee refill, I was told there was none left. The massage experience was also concerning. After finishing with one client, the masseur did not change the bed sheets or towels before the next person, and there was no visible hand washing or sanitising. That felt unhygienic and unprofessional. On top of all this, staff were constantly asking for tips, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend this experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that parts of your visit did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important points. Nurse sharks are a nocturnal species, meaning they are naturally less active during the daytime. It is also completely normal behavior for nurse sharks to rest closely together, this often referred to as “shark piles” or “cuddle puddles.” This grouping is typical for the species and not a sign of stress. All marine animals are monitored and cared for according to established standards. Regarding the stingrays, interaction sessions are carefully supervised by trained staff and conducted in short, controlled intervals. At times, guests may briefly hold a stingray for a photo under guidance, but these moments are limited in duration and manage to ensure the animals’ safety and comfort. Concerning the food and beverage service, our bar offers a variety of items including smoothies, fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, nachos with salsa, sandwiches, cookies and granola, coffee, and soft drinks. We understand that food preferences are subjective, and while many guests enjoy the selection provided, we respect that it may not suit everyone’s personal taste. Coffee refills are normally available throughout the experience, and if there was any misunderstanding or timing issue during your visit, we regret the inconvenience. We would also like to clarify that our massage area follows hygiene protocols, including changing linens and maintaining sanitation standards between guests. If this was not clearly visible, we appreciate you bringing it to our attention so we can reinforce procedures with our team. As for gratuities, tipping is entirely optional. Our staff are instructed never to pressure guests, and we will remind the team of this policy to avoid any discomfort. We regret that your overall experience did not reflect the standards we strive to maintain, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify these points. Kind regards, Marinarium Parks Team

Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium cost?

    +

Prices start at $149 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 39 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 146 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium?

    +

Around 51 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Reef Explorer Multiple activity Excursion from Punta Cana by Marinarium start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
