Barely addressed English...

Barely addressed English speakers. Was more of a conductor than a guide. I've expected more engagement

Last minute change to itinerary - unacceptable!

I'd booked an ATV tour of Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain for a 7.30am departure. The previous evening I received a MSM telling me that departure would be 4am. I told them this is not what I booked and paid for. In response, I was informed that there was a tour leaving at 8.30am that would not get back to Cusco until 8pm and that tour would be for Rainbow Mountain only. No deal. In future, don't accept bookings you don't intend to honour Viator charged me for the tour anyway and I am still waiting for a refund.

What a great experience...

What a great experience and well worth it - the day starts early around 4am with a 4+ hour bus ride to the ATV base broken up with breakfast on the way. Given around 10mins to get used to driving the ATVs then a windy ride up to drop off point with some great scenery on the way - it is then a good 40 min walk through Red Valley to Rainbow Mountain and the walk can be hard due to altitude - Rainbow Mountain is a spectacular sight and we had clear weather - ATV drive back then another 4+ hour bus drive back with a stop for late lunch - day ended with drop off in Cusco centre and total time from pick up to drop off was about 13 hours

Yahoo!

Magical landscape, but the journey at altitude takes about 1.5 hours to walk there and 1.5 hours back; it may be complicated for unprepared people. Be careful if you are not used to the altitude; you may risk a headache.

A perfect experience from start to finish.

I chose this option as found this to be an easier way to visit the Rainbow Mountain as I was not sure of hiking at that altitude. This was a different route that they took than the one used for hikes, the views were incredible and saw plenty of Alpacas and Llamas. I can totally recommend the tour for anyone wanting to explore the mountains without hiking much.

Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour take?

+

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain ATVs Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
