    Waste of time and money

This is the first time we have ever had a bad experience taking a tour. First off the van’s AC could not cool the space. Luis, although well intentioned, did not provide much in the way of ‘guide’ narration. The red rocks were spectacular and the Hoover Dam was amazing but all the other stops were a waste of time. Nelson’s? Why even bother? It’s a junk yard not a ghost town. There’s no tour, in fact it was pretty obvious the owners don’t even want you visiting. The fact that this is a 7 hour tour with no planned stop for lunch - included or not - is absurd. Stopping at a gas station at 9:30 in the morning is not a lunch stop. Overall this was a complete waste of money. Very disappointed and will be far more careful booking tour in the future.

    Mixed Review

Good communication - I received a text the day before with a meeting time that was an hour earlier than when we were expecting it to start. I pushed back a bit and we settled on 1/2 hour early. Luis was our driver. He was on time at our hotel for pick up and we were in a 14ish person van for our group of 10 and then one extra person not with our party. Luis wore a headset for certain parts of the tour and provided interesting information about the areas/stops. He also took some gorgeous group photos for us. There was bottled water in the van for us and we made a stop at a gas station to get other refreshments after about 90 minutes. The van that our driver was assigned was terrible. The air conditioning hardly worked. Everyone was suffering in the back. We had multiple engineers in the car who said the vehicle seemed to have transmission, suspension and electrical issues (and over 225K miles on it). When we reached the speed limit it felt like the van was sliding all over the road and the tires had issues. We had multiple people get car sick (and that was with motion sickness patches on). There were 5 stops on the tour. 2 could be eliminated in our opinion. Red Rocks was great - very beautiful, we did 3 stops and we got out of the van at each to look around and take pictures. Magic Mountain was quick but unique. The Hoover Dam was very historical and scenic. I would just shorten the tours to these three stops if I was the provider. The stop at Nelson’s Ghost Town is far out of the way (40-ish minutes) and there is nothing to see there. If it would have been a private tour, I would have asked to skip it. It is literally a junk collection in the middle of the desert. The people working in the “store” were not particularly friendly and didn’t seem to care if we were there or not. All 10 of us and the other woman with us asked if we could leave the stop early because it was very odd. The last stop after the Hoover Dam was Boulder City at a hotel with a little museum inside. The timing of this stop (at the very end), as well as the distance from the Hoover Dam and the amount of time spent there (15 minutes or so) made this less than ideal. I would have preferred to spend more time at the Dam looking at some of the historical info onsite there. Boulder City had a cute downtown, but there was not time to visit anything other than the hotel. If this continues to be a stop, they should lengthen it and give people time to eat/walk around. Overall, we enjoyed most of the sites we saw and Luis was fine, but I would reconsider this tour mainly due to the lack of a quality of the vehicle and the 2 stops we did not enjoy. As mentioned, we did see some beautiful sites and got some great photos though!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed many of the beautiful locations and that Luis was punctual, informative, helpful, and took some great group photos for you. We’re sorry the temperature inside the van affected your comfort. We would like to clarify that a brand-new A/C system was installed in this van approximately one month ago. Unfortunately, the day of your tour was exceptionally hot, with temperatures reaching around 130°F in some desert areas, which made it extremely difficult for the A/C to keep the entire vehicle as cool as usual. Regarding the concerns about the vehicle, the van does not have transmission or suspension issues. Safety and maintenance are extremely important to us, and all four tires were replaced with brand-new tires just two days before your tour. We also appreciate your feedback regarding Nelson Ghost Town and Boulder City. While many guests enjoy these stops, we understand that every guest has different preferences, and your comments about spending additional time at Hoover Dam are valuable to us. Thank you again for recognizing Luis’s efforts, the beautiful scenery, and the great photos. We appreciate your constructive feedback and will continue working to provide the best possible experience for our guests. MarVit Tours Team

Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Las Vegas.

How much does Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town cost?

    +

Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Las Vegas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Las Vegas is not rushed.

Is Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 403 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Las Vegas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town?

    +

Around 141 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Las Vegas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Las Vegas and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains, Nelson Ghost Town start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Las Vegas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Las Vegas?

    +

Las Vegas sells two trips at once: the Strip after dark, and the red-rock desert that starts twenty minutes past the last casino. Helicopter runs to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam half-days and Red Rock Canyon drives all leave early, while show tickets, speakeasy crawls and high-roller dining fill the evening. Outty Ranking weighs operator reliability heavily here, because the gap between a well-run desert tour and a coach-and-queue version is enormous. On Outty we rank every Las Vegas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Valley of Fire Half Day Tour from Las Vegas, Small Group Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains VIP Tour, Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam Stop, Breakfast, Lunch & Skywalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?

    +

October to April. Summer highs above 105F make midday outdoor tours punishing. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Las Vegas?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
