What you'll see and do
Valle Arcoiris
We left San Pedro de Atacama heading west, first visiting Yerbas Buenas , an area of great historical importance, as it contains one of the most significant groups of petroglyphs in the region. Indigenous caravans passed through this area, traveling from northeastern Argentina and the Bolivian Altiplano to the Pacific Ocean. We encountered a wide variety of rock carvings and drawings, including llamas, camelids, birds, monkeys, and dogs. Next, you'll visit a place known as Rainbow Valley . We'll stop to stretch the legs and explore this area on a 1-hour hike each way, named for the varied colors of the rocks, a result of the different minerals they contain. After a short guided tour with explanations and time for taking photos, we'll travel to the Salado River area , where a small valley forms, offering a chance to hike and appreciate the scenery. Afterward, we'll return to San Pedro de Atacama, where the activity concludes.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
