Separate tours needed for 7 colors + red valley or just 7 colors

The experience was brutal, but there were 2 passengers who wanted to go to the red valley and that made us wait for the other 14, 2h in the sun next to the van. I think they should be separate tours, or that everyone who wants to go to that extra should be grouped in the same car so as not to make the majority wait.

Response from the operator: Buenos dias, muchas gracias por la sugerencia, y ya se tomo en cuenta, saludos.

Very hard hike but...

Very hard hike but worthwhile if you're up to it. Other good options are take horse or motorbike up.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your comment. That's why we recommend motorcycles, as they are very helpful and save us from walking. Best regards.

Disappointing, poorly guided, safety concerns

Communication on the evening prior to the tour was good but should have acknowledged that snow was a possibility on Rainbow Mountain so only whiteness visible. This information would impact clothing choices and let customers know that it requires footwear to walk through snow, slush and mud. Our first stop was for the guide to pick up two large bags of bread. We have no idea what this was about as the guide said nothing. The van was then stopped at a police and Ministry of Transportation check for twenty minutes, citations were issued. Our guide remained silent. No information or explanation was provided by our guide. We had no idea if we would be held up for minutes, hours or be turned back. During this time no other vehicles were held. The Viator website and official website state that an entrance fee of 25 sols per person was not included. The guide asked us and several other passengers for 30 sols each and backed down to 25 when challenged. We communicated with your operator and the response was that "we checked with the guide and you only gave him 25 sols so no problem. In this response the tour operator also mentioned zero visibility of the Rainbow Mountain colours presuming we were unhappy about their lack of control of the weather. We enjoyed the unique experience of Rainbow Mountain covered in snow while being disappointed that this information while known had not been shared. On arrival at Rainbow Mountain standing in the slush and mud the guide THEN discussed the options of people riding horses or motorcycles up the trail. This is something he could have done during the breakfast stop or during the ride to the mountain, or inside the dry and warm van. Instead we stood around in the muddy slush for 15 minutes while he talked about the options. We expect Viator to be vetting their tour operators to ensure that guides and drivers have the necessary documents available for safety and security; that vehicles pass inspections; and that tours provided in English have guides who are able to communicate with guests. The lack of information on what was taking place during our journey, the lack of information about the issue of possible snow at the destination, and the non-guidance of the guide made this a very unsatisfactory and potentially dangerous experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We're sorry about what happened. The bus stops at the checkpoint. It's unusual, but these checkpoints are carried out twice a year. The vehicles have permits, but they forgot to bring them. As for the weather, there's not much we can do, since the weather changes in a few minutes. We'll be more attentive to ensure a better experience.

Rogelio explained...

Rogelio explained everything in detail and ensured everyone was ok. In addition the option with motorcycles driven by expert drivers is the easiest option for someone with issues with altitude as it involves the least amount of hiking

Response from the operator: We're delighted that you trusted us with our work. We make sure that altitude isn't a problem for enjoying the rainbow mountain. Regards.

Must visit, see it and live it

It is amazing!!! A must see!!! I recommend it; however due to the high altitude, is better to use one of their forms (horse or bike)to climb it so you can enjoy it to its fullest.

Response from the operator: Thank you

Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco cost?

+

Prices start at $28 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco take?

+

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rainbow Mountain Easy Tour Cusco start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
