    Birdwatching St. Lucia’s endemics

Went birding with John to look for the islands endemics. We saw many parrots (St. Lucia Amazon), and the St. Lucia warbler and black finch along with many of the regional (lesser Antilles) endemics. We looked a long while for the St. Lucia thrasher (white bellied) but didn’t find it. Overall I saw 20 species on a 9 am - 3 pm cruise stop. We stopped at a local shop to get delicious home made bread filled with different things and a sea moss drink - both of which added to an authentic experience. Thanks John!

    They never turned up

They never picked me up. After waiting for 30 minutes I called them, and they claimed they never had a booking in the first place. (I had a confirmed Viator booking and a ticket.) They said I could go the next day, but it would cost another USD120 for a solo booking. This is on top of the Viator price, and not including the additional fees that everyone else comments on. They said they need 4 people in a booking before they will run it at the Viator price. So I wasted a day of my holiday. Unless you are doing a group booking, I would avoid this company

    No one showed up

I didn't go on the tour. I had a confirmed booking from Viator for one person. I waited for 30 minutes for the pickup. When no one showed, I called the tour operator, and they said they had no bookings for that day. They did offer to take me the next day, but because it was a solo booking, it would cost USD120 extra, on top of what I had already paid. Apparently they need a minimum of 4 people before they will run the tour. I am awaiting a refund from Viator.

Not quite what we were expecting..

This is a difficult review to put together. On the one hand we had an excellent bird watching / trekking experience with Alfred who shared his knowledge of birds and plants.5/5 .. However we do take issue with the description of the trip. We viewed it on Trip Advisor and based on the itinerary we decided to book it. In all honesty it was extremely misleading the description sated tat we would be visiting a waterfall, a rum distillery and also that we would have the opportunity to swim at Marigot Bay. We did none of the above which was really disappointing. Our other concern was that it was not made particularly clear that we would have to pay an extra fee for the birdwatching. Consequently we had insufficient funds to cover the cost though to be fair our driver took us to a cash point in order to solve the problem. All in all we feel that considerable improvements could be made in order to create a better customer experience.

Great guide in a remote rainforest

John was an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable about local history, plants, and animals. He helped us identify many species of birds, including the parrots. He also threw in a bonus treat, stopping off at a stand on the way back for some fresh coconut. Had a great experience, highly recommend.

Rain forest and Bird watching: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Soufriere.

How much does Rain forest and Bird watching cost?

    +

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Soufriere usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rain forest and Bird watching take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Soufriere is not rushed.

Is Rain forest and Bird watching worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Soufriere, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rain forest and Bird watching?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rain forest and Bird watching suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Rain forest and Bird watching?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Soufriere can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Soufriere and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Rain forest and Bird watching start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Soufriere within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Soufriere?

    +

On Outty we rank every Soufriere experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gros Piton Hike with Dannyboy & Co., Hot Chocolate Tours St. Lucia, Soufriere Private Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Soufriere?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Soufriere?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Rain forest and Bird watching?

    +

Included: Bottled water; hotel pickup and drop-off; and AC taxi,. Not included: All Fees and Taxes; and Lunch. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Does Rain forest and Bird watching include hotel pickup?

    +

Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 54 listed pickup locations in and around Soufriere. Be ready about 10 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is Rain forest and Bird watching offered in?
