About this experience

Our six-hour shared charter gives you the time to experience more of Lake Wakatipu, not simply spend longer fishing. With a maximum of six guests, we can explore different areas, adapt as conditions change and, where suitable, try a wider range of fishing techniques. First-time anglers have plenty of time to learn and gain confidence, while experienced anglers can get more involved with techniques, gear and the local fishery. Your skipper is there throughout to provide hands-on guidance and share his knowledge of the lake and surrounding area. Once fishing, our fully electric trolling motor means no engine noise. Its GPS route-following system can guide the boat along our fishing route, leaving your skipper free to spend more time helping guests, talking fishing and sharing local knowledge. Quality fishing gear, a comfortable purpose-built boat, locally sourced treats and cold drinks make this a relaxed and immersive way to experience Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown from the water.

Worth to do it if you have enough time

Very experienced guide with right equipment and landed 3 beautiful trout fish. A unique fishing experience with amazing views

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review, Stephanie. We’re pleased to hear your husband and son enjoyed their day on Lake Wakatipu and landed three trout. It was great for them that the trip worked out with the boat to themselves, allowing for a relaxed and unrushed experience alongside the stunning scenery. Thank you for choosing Catch a Fish, we’d love to welcome you back

Fantastic day out and great fishing.

Fantastic day out with the family. Ollie was great, thoroughly entertaining, knowledgeable and shared his knowledge of the environment, especially good for our teenagers. We caught our limit in the first two hours and then caught and released for the next 4. We caught 17 fish in all. Great competition for the biggest, most fish and the most attractive! Plenty of soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches. We will do again and would thoroughly recommend Ollie and his boat.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words, it was such a pleasure having you and your family on board. Hope to see you again soon!

How far in advance should I book Queenstown Small-Group Trout & Salmon Fishing – 6 Hours?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Queenstown?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Queenstown?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
