We had our own private tour with Emma. She was a fantastic host and tour guide. The wineries we visited were amazing and all very different in their own way. Thanks so much Emma.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It was an absolute pleasure having you join us on the Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour. 🍷 I’m so glad you enjoyed the wineries and how different each experience was — that’s exactly what we love showcasing about Central Otago wine country. Thanks again for choosing Alpine Wine Tours and for spending the afternoon with me. Cheers, Emma Alpine Wine Tours

Brilliant mini afternoon escape!
What a perfect mini afternoon parents escape! The guide, Emma, is thoroughly knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we were well looked after. A beautiful taste of some spectacular wineries in the outer Queenstown region and great service at each winery due to the tour experience. Very comfortable transport (which also meant we could drink and not worry!) and great amount of information about the region. Thoroughly recommend especially to those parents able to get away for a few hours break from the kids!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review! I absolutely love that you described the tour as a "mini afternoon escape"—that's exactly the experience we hope to create. Our public tours are adults only, so guests can truly relax, unwind, enjoy some incredible Central Otago wines, and take in the beautiful scenery without having to think about driving. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I'm so pleased you enjoyed learning about the region, the personalised winery experiences, and travelling in comfort between each stop. We really value the relationships we've built with our winery partners, so it's wonderful to hear their hospitality helped make the afternoon so memorable. Thank you for recommending us to other parents looking for a well-earned break. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your travels, and we'd love to welcome you back to Queenstown for another wine adventure in the future! Cheers, Emma Alpine Wine Tours

Perfect parents afternoon getaway!
What a perfect mini afternoon escape from the children! A well put together afternoon of wineries with tastings. The guide, Emma, was very knowledgeable and friendly and each winery gave a very special guided tasting. Beautiful countryside, great comfortable transport, fantastic guide and great wine - what more could you ask for?
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Katie, for your wonderful review! We're so pleased you enjoyed your afternoon escape and that we could provide the perfect adults-only break. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I'm delighted you enjoyed the personalised tastings at each winery, the beautiful Central Otago scenery, and our comfortable boutique tour experience. Thank you for your kind words about my hosting—it really means a lot. Hopefully your wine memories (and perhaps a bottle or two!) help you relive your afternoon in Queenstown long after you're home. Best wine tour of my life!
An absolutely outstanding experience. Emma and her adorable dog Bella made this the best wine tour I’ve ever been on. The smaller, more intimate group size really sets this tour apart and allows for a thoughtfully curated experience from start to finish. If you’re in Queenstown, this is an absolute must-do.
Response from the operator: Hi Alex, “Best wine tour of my life” — wow, thank you! That truly means so much! I’m so glad you loved the smaller, more intimate group experience—that’s exactly what we aim for so you can relax and enjoy every moment from start to finish. And Bella will be very happy to hear she helped make it extra special 🐶🍷 Really appreciate you calling it a must-do—means a lot to a small, local business like ours. Hope to see you back in Queenstown again soon! Cheers, Emma & Bella 🐾🍷

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.
How much does Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $229 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.
Is Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 95 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide?
+
Around 33 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Gibbston Valley | NZ Local Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Queenstown?
+
On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Queenstown?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Queenstown?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
