Incredible way better than commercial tour July was amazing

July and his team gave us a personalized tour catering to new and old snorkelers in the family! Apprehension at first but way better than any commercial tour July took us through an individualized experience and it was our favorite tour this trip!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your amazing review, Cara! 🌊🐠 We’re thrilled to hear that July and his team made your snorkeling tour such a personalized and unforgettable experience. It’s great that they were able to cater to both new and experienced snorkelers and turn any initial apprehension into a highlight of your trip! Your kind words mean a lot to us — we hope to welcome you back again soon for another incredible adventure! 😊

    Communication is TERRIBLE

I didn’t get the confirmation of pick up when I made the reservation. They said they sent it via the Viator app. I made the reservation with trip advisor and do not have either app. I looked for the email and when I didn’t get anything I tried calling the operator but the number on the confirmation doesn’t work 🤯. They showed up at 7:45 am and didn’t bother to even call us when we weren’t there. Just waited 15 minutes and left. Tripadvisor had sent emails but they didn’t download to my server until the morning of the trip when they were already gone. I requested a refund which was denied. All this could have been avoided by just having the correct phone number on their confirmation. Or calling us when we weren’t there not there at the pick up time. We could have gotten to the pick up point in 5-10 minutes - they waited 15. I am out $138. Maybe it will save someone else from going through the same. IF they are responsible and update their contact info and call if someone is at the pick up point.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your comment. However, we must clarify several important points. All pickup information was sent one day in advance through the Viator/TripAdvisor platform, which is the standard communication method for bookings made through those platforms. When you later called us, you explained that your internet connection was poor and you had not checked the messages, which unfortunately was outside of our control. Regarding the pickup itself, the driver arrived at the scheduled time and waited 15 minutes, even though the standard waiting time is 5 minutes. After waiting well beyond the required time with no guest present, the driver had to leave in order to continue with the scheduled route. Our phone number on the confirmation is correct, and the contact details provided are the same ones used by many other guests without issue. We understand that travel connectivity problems can sometimes occur, but in this case the pickup details were sent correctly and the driver waited longer than required. For this reason, the reservation was considered a no-show according to the booking policy. We always recommend that guests check their booking platform messages the day before the excursion, as this is where the final pickup details are communicated.

    A mixed bag

Let me start with the positive. The guide was very kind and patient with our grandson and the snorkeling was pretty good. As for the rest of it, I should have done more research. The location shown on the aviator app is on a few minutes from the cruise port, but the actual snorkeling is more than an hours drive away. Since we arrived later than the departure time, we took a taxi to the snorkel spot ($140 round trip) but that was actually better than the open air bus they provided since that would have required we wait on everyone else to finish. The “beach” where you meet is in a sketchy area with lots of dilapidated structures. Overall it was not what we expected, but folks still had a nice time.

    Sousa Bay Snorkeling

We had an amazing time. Guys were right on time for our pick up. Was a blast to ride there on the open air bus. The guys were extremely professional and really made sure we were all ok and having a great time. Saw and fed tons of fish. Daniel,Julie and all the guys were fantastic. Would for sure book with them again when we return to Puerta Plata.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review of your excursion in Puerto Plata. We hope to see you snorkeling again soon!

Response from the operator: Hi Wanita, Thanks for reaching out, we are sorry to hear you have not received your photos from our photography provider. Often times the email address we are supposed to send the photos is misspelled or the photographer does not understand the guests handwriting. Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.

How much does Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.

Is Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Puerto Plata Snorkeling Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
