JONATHAN TOURS for the win!
There are a hundred of these waterfall tours, YOU MUST BOOK WITH JONATHAN TOURS!!!! Jonathan personally took us on this tour and stayed with us until he had to hand us over to the park guides. He always made sure we, 3 women traveling together, always felt safe and steered us away from potential scams. My sister was so impressed she is planning to let her 21 year old daughter go back with another 21 year old girl later this year. The only condition was they have to use JONATHAN TOURS. The waterfalls are beautiful. The hike is a bit of a slog and it is hot and you need mosquito repellent. The journey back down absolutely makes the climb worth it. Do consider paying a bit to have a dedicated picture taker (guide) so you don't have to worry about damaging your phone/camera. Jonathan watched all our stuff so we didn't have to worry about it while chasing waterfalls. Watch out! That last slide has a bit of a bump in the middle that you will really feel if you don't have much padding back there. We chose to have a cameraman but it also meant we needed 3 separate tips (plan your bills & cash accordingly) since the park guides are separate from Jonathan (and everybody else's) tours. Once we enjoyed the beauty that nature in Puerto Plata had to offer, we dried off & changed clothes at the park and Jonathan took us into the town of Puerto Plata and showed us everything he loves about his home. He told us about local personalities and introduced us to a few. He talked about local customs and culture. He took us to the pink street, the kite street, the umbrella street, and several beautiful murals. He stopped anywhere we asked: a coffee shop, a grocery store, and he pointed out great things around town we would have completely missed if we had taken a taxi in on our own. He even made sure my niece got great pics of all the city dogs. We cannot say enough good things about Jonathan Tours and the amazing day we shared with him in Puerto Plata. Thanks Jonathan!

Puerto Plata Waterfalls and Monkeys
Had an awesome experience with Jonathan. He was prompt picking us up coming off our cruise and got us to the waterfalls so we were the first ones there. After playing with the monkeys for about an hour he took us to a delicious lunch at a local restaurant and drove us through town in Puerto Playa on our way back. Everything was executed perfectly. Would highly recommend.

We were in a group with people our age. The guide was great at the falls and Jonathan made our Puerto Plata DR experience really special geared our city tour after the falls to our own specific preferences. Cigar rolling, chocolate factory, gorgeous beach. He took pics for us and gave us an up close and personal tour of the area. Van was clean and modern. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Puerto Plata: Private Tour 7 Waterfalls and City Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
