This interactive experience explores how Prospect Park has changed over time, from the original vision of designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to the ways in which the Park is used today. Tours begin at Grand Army Plaza and take visitors through many of the key natural and historic landmarks of the park, including the breathtaking Long Meadow, the innovatively-designed LeFrak Center at Lakeside, and the Ravine, the largest natural forest in Brooklyn. This tour also features a special behind-the-scenes visit to historic sites and features within the park. These tours are offered by Turnstile Tours on behalf of Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit organization that sustains, restores, and advances the Park in partnership with New York City.

Tours begin on the front steps of the Brooklyn Public Library Central Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238. The nearest subway stations are at Grand Army Plaza (2,3) and 7th Av (B,Q).

Our tour will begin at Grand Army Plaza where visitors will see and learn about architecture from the City Beautiful Movement that adorns this grand entrance to the park, including the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch.

Prospect Park
Visitors will explore features of the natural and built environments in Prospect Park, including Brooklyn's largest forest, the longest urban meadow in the United States, and various water features, including waterfalls, creeks, and Prospect Park Lake. We'll also see sculptures, memorials, and historic sites, including The Boathouse, Picnic House, and The Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch.

Prospect Park Audubon Center at the Boathouse
This historic structure is home to one of multiple structures in the park that has Guastavino Tiles. Designed by architects Helmle, Huberty, and Hudswell, this 1905 structure was saved from the wrecking ball by activists in the 1960's. Today the Boathouse is home to the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first audubon center in an urban park in the United States.

Up close and personal with the planning of Prospect Park
The tour gave an overview of the park design through a close exploration of the different sections: meadow, forest, and lake. The tour guide had a wealth of information on Vaux and Olmsted's original design ideas and the "updates" and "teardowns" of original features. The additions that the Prospect Park Alliance has initiated were also observed. I got a fresh perspective on my favorite park. I highly recommend this tour!

A walk about, the lake and scenery. "A day in the life".
I'm a fishing guy and I have been in the lake for about 6xs.I am happy to know that it is a catch and release lake. I am wondering if you ĥave to get a licence for fishing there. I have not seen any other guy with one.

Wild life and forest like trails
Lovely tour. Park was beautiful. I do think that two hours was too long. We went after the rain so had to be very careful as we walked through mud and slippery steps

The Forest of Prospect Park
The history of this natural wonder is fascinating and is shared with lots of chances to ask questions. Information about current projects and renovations and plans for the future are shared. The guide was deeply knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour for those that live in the neighborhood and for visitors.

Birthday Celebration - Prospect Park Tour
Wanted to do something different for my birthday so I booked this tour for a group of family & friends. Our guide Corrine was amazing and full of enthusiasm. She made the tour fun and such a great learning experience. Corrine not only provided interesting facts about Prospect Park but also made it interactive by asking us questions & taking questions. Would definitely recommend this tour.
