    About this experience

Our guides are experienced and knowledgeable and will take you on a journey through our sky. Learn to find north and the location of our seasonal triangles, constellations and planets. Using high-powered laser pointers, we will provide you an entertaining and scholastic experience, with stories about ancient civilizations, Greek mythology, and the evolution of the Cosmos. Our telescopes are operated with a keypad and are as easy to use as sending a text. Telescopes are pre-programmed with our object list for the night. Pressing one button on the keypad moves the telescope to the next object. We regularly view the following types and classes of objects: Galaxies, Nebulae, Star Clusters, Double and Binary Stars, Planets, Earth’s Moon, Globular Clusters, Comets, and more. Depending on timing, the International Space Station (ISS) and Starlink trains can be seen passing overhead.

Amazing way to experience the Joshua Tree night sky!

It is accomodating whether you know nothing or a lot about astronomy. The hosts are very knowledgable and they make it an incredible experience rich with information and pictures in an efficient amount of time. I am so happy that I went!

    Wonderful!! Excellent...

Wonderful!! Excellent guides, super fun and informative, the most clear and beautiful sky. Learned a ton. Very comfortable. Leave early and with a downloaded map, there's no service and you're headed to the middle of nowhere :)

Response from the operator: Stellar!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are so glad to hear you found the experience fun and informative. Thank you for joining us on this adventure in the desert, we hope to see you again soon!

    Pictures

Don’t go when there is a full moon, it limits what you can see. Interestingly enough, the guides made a comment about pictures. “We are not Disney and we do not sell them. We will send them to your email tomorrow morning”. It’s been three days and we have not received anything. Maybe they are Disney? No extra money no pictures.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback and joining us! The full moon will impact ability to observe the fainter objects in the sky, however we do spend time observing the moon up close in telescopes! Photos are sent the day following the experience via the Viator message portal as Viator does not provide us with guest's email address'. Please reach out directly so we can get your photos to you! Thank you again for sharing the night sky with us!

Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palm Springs.

How much does Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree cost?

    +

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palm Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palm Springs is not rushed.

Is Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 169 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Palm Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree?

    +

Around 59 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palm Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palm Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Professional Stargazing Tour in Joshua Tree start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palm Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Palm Springs?

    +

Palm Springs sells architecture tours through midcentury neighbourhoods, Aerial Tramway trips up San Jacinto, Indian Canyons hikes, Joshua Tree stargazing and windmill farm runs. Shade, water and pickup points separate a good desert tour from a rough one. On Outty we rank every Palm Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bank Heist Escape Room Game for Private Group, Palm Springs Modernism Architecture & History Bike Tour, Vampire's Lair Escape Room Game for Private Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Palm Springs?

    +

November to April. Book dawn or evening slots in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Palm Springs?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
