First exposure

It was an incredible experience being in a professional recording booth. The script given was clear and easy to follow even if you don’t know Japanese. The only limiting factor is your own confidence. Go wild! Sometimes it’s encouraged!

Literally please do it

I was recommended this by the tour I was on after the cosplay experience (which was amazing btw). The ladies I saw last time were very happy to see me! Yuri was my translator, which was needed since we got to meet a Japanese voice actress! I believe she only spoke in Japanese and was very patient with my beginner level of understanding ^^! While in the studio, we got to watch one of the VAs (Voice Actress') scenes and dub over them! It was amazing! Being a VA myself I wanted to see how it would feel in a real studio since I only voice act in my private one. Everyone was so nice and patient, and the clips turned out very well! ♡♡

Awesome experience I would recommend to anyone!

I got the chance to attend the voice acting workshop on 6/24. It was held in a small studio and they gave us all our own bottle of water and a script to use as reference. It lasted about an hour, maybe a little more? Yume-sensei (a real voice actress!) was really cheerful and encouraging and gave great, simple-to-enact advice that helped us sound really great. She and the guide (who translated for her) had good chemistry and worked well together. We only did 3 scenes in total (although we did the last one twice), but we got a lot of practice time and practical advice directly from Yume-sensei. We also got to hear our recordings with the animation right after we did them, which was awesome! The workshop was overall really interactive, fun, and supportive. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to anyone interested in trying voice acting, even if they're not confident in their Japanese.

A Sunny Day and a Monstrous Cow

My experience started long before I arrived at the Animate Square in Ikebukuro. Organising a trip is never easy - you lose track of time, itineraries change, flights get delayed or changed altogether. And that last thing is what happened to me, shifting my entire trip by a couple of days, my original Abracdabra reservation had to be cancelled and replaced by a new one, several days later, to match my Tokyo stay. Worried, anxious, and concerned that I might miss the opportunity, I messaged the organisers. No problems. A quick refund promptly followed my cancellation, and I was able to reserve my second spot effortlessly. Such a worry-free experience! On the day, I arrived early. I am as awkward as that. The Animate store welcomed me with open arms, offering me tonnes of gacha games, manga to look at and buy, and more: the perfect place to wait when it's early. It's not part of the tour, but the location is ideal, as even if you arrive with hours to spare (I had a bit under an hour), you can find what to do around Ikebukuro. The meeting began with me seeing a charming, smiling young lady wearing a beautiful costume and a sign that read Abracadabra Tours. She presented herself to us, a smile never leaving her face, and we introduced ourselves. A perfect guide knows how to calm the nerves and make things fun. And this is what she did. We walked through the back streets and reached the entrance to the studio. "It's a secret entrance, where no one can observe or follow the stars when they come!" she said more or less—the stars of true Japanese anime... and us three. Then came the studio - clean, quiet, cosy and very professional. The staff were very kind and positive, even if she was the only one speaking English. We exchanged courtesies; I would have asked questions, too, if I weren't a stupid non-Japanese speaker. (I am learning!). And then came the best part - the seiyuu. Even in my wildest dreams, I wouldn't have imagined meeting someone who has scores of CV entries in the anime industry, including some very, very, very popular shows. The exercises shown, the recordings, the advice - everything was perfect. The ambience was just as great. I have not got enough superlatives to say about this seemingly casual experience. It is not casual at all. I am grateful to everyone who organised this and allowed me to see how well or poorly I managed in the field. As a budding voice actress, I needed this kind of professionalism to boost my efforts. I won't even mention how sad I am that the monstrous cow I had to voice was the very first scene! I would have done so much better had I had heard the advice and guidance I got afterwards from the Seiyuu. A couple of days later, I was emailed the recordings and allowed to upload them to my channels. I loved sharing this with my friends, family and people who know I'm trying to learn voice acting. Cheers and good luck!

Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo cost?

+

Prices start at $23500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Professional Japanese Anime Voice Acting Workshop in Tokyo start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

+

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

+

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
