What you get

    About this experience

Operated by Senor Travel Bug, see lots of wildlife in the Cancun and Riviera Maya region, exotic and colourful birdlife in the jungle, potentially multiple species of turtles in the Caribbean sea and perhaps you'll also be lucky enough to see both the spider and howler monkeys further into the jungle in Yucatan's interior. Of course, all wildlife experiences do not guarantee specific animal sightings, but your guide is a former professional photographer who will share with you his best photos at the end of the day, and prepare a summary video of your day of up to 90 seconds as a memory. You may choose to travel in a classic VW Beetle, or in a more modern vehicle.

Amazing Wildlife & Authentic Experience – Highly Recommended!

This was by far the best excursion we experienced during our two-week stay in Mexico. Our guide Paul made this tour truly special by taking us far away from the typical tourist crowds and showing us incredible wildlife, including many birds and monkeys in their natural habitat. The ride in the classic VW Beetle was a lot of fun and added a unique, authentic touch to the whole experience. We also enjoyed a delicious and truly local breakfast, which made the day even more memorable. Paul went above and beyond by capturing amazing photos and videos for us, giving us lasting memories of this wonderful day. To top it all off, the tour ended with snorkeling alongside turtles, where we were treated with great care and attention. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic, personal, and unforgettable experience in Mexico!

    Highlight of our holiday

This was our 2nd day trip with Paul. We had enjoyed our trip to Chichen Itza with him so much that we asked him to devise a day for us around snorkelling with turtles. Our day included: - Manta Ray spotting in Puerto Morelos; - snorkelling with turtles at Akumal; - a beautiful, relaxing cenote with 4 pools; - detour through Playa del Carmen for hot chocolate and cake; - authentic, rustic Mexican lunch; - a jungle walk - highlight was seeing a troop of spider monkeys. Paul is friendly, professional, multilingual and very knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble for him and my husband and I and our 2 grown sons enjoyed both our days with him immensely and they made our holiday in Mexico worthwhile and memorable. Paul also took lots of photos which is a lovely added bonus. Book Paul for any trip and you will certainly not regret it.

Response from the operator: Thank you. It was awesome to spend those two days with your family, and seeing such a wide range of experiences. From history at Chichen Itza, five types of cenote over two days, so much wildlife and some great food. I was so pleased to be able to share it all with you. Thank you, and tell all your friends ;-)

    Birds and more

We were recommended to do a tour with Paul in Cancùn and we chose to aim to Isla Blanca early morning to enjoy wildlife and virgin beaches - fantastic ! Big plus, he shared pictures from the trip of an outstanding quality (birds, landscapes, etc) ! I have to say Paul is himself part of the experience as being funny, open-minded, multilingual, passionate about Mexico’s culture and wildlife, which made this trip enjoyable and friendly. Paul is very responsive and client-oriented, communication by WhatsApp was smooth and precise. During the trip, we were lucky enough to spot a wide variety of birds, counting a - young - great black hawk, pelicans, osprey and many others! In a nutshell, if you are in Cancùn or planning a trip to Yucatán, don’t hesitate. Thanks again Paul ! PS: Paul’s mythical Beetle is part of the experience

Response from the operator: Haha on the Beetle experience! I thoroughly enjoyed our very early morning with the local birds, Luca, so thank you for trusting me your time on your vacation. You now know my 'happy place', and as ever it was great to see such a variety of birds in such a beautiful little-known part of the area around Cancun.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys cost?

    +

Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private VW Beetle Tour to See Mexican Birds, Turtles & Monkeys start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
