    Perfect if short on time!

Our guide Philippe was amazing! Very knowledgeable and accommodating. Picked us up at the airport, ran us around all day, and got us to our cruise ship on time. He knew all the answers to our questions and taught us a lot about Iceland.

Response from the operator: Hello jennifer, It's reviews like this that are making our summer days even brighter! Thank you so much

Amazing Tour Company & Experience for the Golden Circle

Came across Lilja Tours when googling around for a tour for me and my two friends that would cover Thingviller Park. Julien, the owner, was so helpful in figuring out what other stops we could include in a day trip. Our guide for the day was Leo who brought incredible energy to the day and was so accommodating with everything we wanted to do as well offer up ideas we weren't even aware of. He was also really strategic in terms of navigating the very limited daylight hours that Iceland has in early winter. We ended up doing a private tour. This was a more expensive option but if you're able to, this is by far a better option as you have more flexibility in what you can do and your timing. Leo was kind enough to meet us in Reykjavik and caravan with us to our hotel outside the capital and then use his own car for the tour and dropped us off at our hotel. It was seamless from start to finish. Would highly recommend this tour company. There are a LOT of tour companies out there but I would have no hesitation in booking them again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for recommending us here on TripAdvisor. Heartful reviews like yours are very important and mean everything to us. Thank you Julien

    Perfect tour from Reykjavik

This trip is absolutely perfect for someone who has half a day or just over that to spend exploring. You see so many different things all in one trip, making you feel as though you've experienced so much of Iceland. My tour guide, Jón, was so informative and friendly, and he and the tour manager Julien were so easy to communicate with in the lead up to the tour. The car we travelled in was very comfortable and spacious and I love how you can customise your tour as you go along if there's certain things you are more interested in. I can't recommend this tour highly enough.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for leaving a detailed review. You are right, Jón is an amazing guide and we are happy to have him as a part of our team!

    Excellent everything very well organized

This tour met our expectations very well. Well organized, Julien made us do the golden circle in a brand new Mercedes wagon. What more can I ask? We had ample time to visit all three places. At the end of the excursion, Julien allowed us to briefly visit the church in Reykjavik. Only small flat., when taken care of in the morning Julien was ill. Given the many traumas people have experienced since COVID, we would have appreciated him wearing a mask. We quickly responded to the situation by all wearing masks. I recommend this tour without reservation.

Response from the operator: Bonjour et merci pour votre gentil commentaire. Je suis content que vous ayez aimé le tour. Dans l'attente de vous guider à nouveau. Julien

One of the Best Tours Ever

Julien was marvelous. He made special arrangements to accommodate our schedule. Despite this, he included two stops that wasn't on the itinerary. This was one of the best tours that I have ever taken.

Response from the operator: Hello Thomas, Sorry to answer to your review this late, I did not see it until now. I was happy to read that you spent a beautiful day. Looking forward to meeting you again

Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials cost?

    +

Prices start at $1311 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Visit Golden Circle Essentials start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
