What you'll see and do
Elafonissi Beach
Arrive at Europe’s most exotic destination in the absolute comfort of your private vehicle, bypassing the exhaustion of mass transit. Elafonissi is not just a beach; it is a protected Natura 2000 nature reserve. You will walk upon the famous pink-tinged shoreline—a natural phenomenon created by thousands of crushed seashells—and swim in shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters that rival the Bahamas. You can wade through the lagoon to explore the cedar forest on the islet or simply lounge under the Cretan sun. The freedom of a private tour allows you to set your own pace, far from the rigid schedules of large tour groups.

Agia Sofia Cave
The journey from Heraklion is long, but we transform it into an immersive exploration experience. As we traverse the rugged Cretan mainland, we make strategic stops at locations that large coaches simply cannot access. We will stop at the magnificent Topolia Gorge for breathtaking panoramic photos and visit the mystical Cave of Agia Sofia (Cave of the Wisdom of God), a site of worship featuring massive stalactites and stalagmites. If you wish, we can also visit the historic Chrisoskalitissa Monastery, perched on a cliff overlooking the Libyan Sea. This segment of the trip is 100% customizable: you decide where we pull over to admire the raw nature or dive into local history.
60 minutes here
Elos
Cretan cuisine is the heart of our experience, and we offer you two exclusive choices. Either we stop at a traditional, family-run mountain village (such as Elos) nestled among chestnut trees, to taste the famous lamb, handmade kalitsounia, and dishes made with ingredients straight from the family's farm. Or, if you prefer a more cosmopolitan experience, we can head earlier toward Chania's Old Town, giving you extra time to dine at a local restaurant right by the Venetian Harbor. In either case, your driver will recommend the best non-touristy spots to experience authentic Cretan food accompanied by local wine or raki.
60 minutes here
Chania Town
The conclusion of your day belongs entirely to you. On our return journey, we will stop for 1 to 1.5 hours in one of West Crete’s historic cities. You can choose Chania, to wander through the romantic Venetian alleys and see the iconic Venetian Lighthouse as the afternoon light softens. Alternatively, you can choose Rethymno, featuring its medieval Fortezza and charming harbor. If you have discovered another spot that piques your interest, your driver is there to take you. This is the perfect opportunity for an afternoon coffee, shopping for local artisanal crafts, or a historical stroll before a smooth, private transfer back to your hotel in Heraklion.

Beautiful Tour
Leonidas was wonderful! This tour took us on must see spots when visiting Crete. The drive was peaceful and smooth and it was a perfect way to see a lot of the island! The tour stopped at many cool places I didn’t know of before booking! Would defiantly recommend booking with them.
Response from the operator: Dear Cora, Thank you so much for your kind review. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you and showing you some of the places that many visitors would never discover on their own. While Crete is famous for its major landmarks, some of the most memorable moments often come from the unexpected stops along the way. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the journey as much as the destinations themselves. My goal is always to create a day that feels relaxed, personal, and full of authentic experiences rather than simply moving from one attraction to the next. Thank you for your recommendation and for choosing Crete Wanderer. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back and show you even more of the island in the future. Warm regards, Leonidas Crete Wanderer

Tailor made tour in a few hours
Despite following a suggested itinerary, this tour proved to be highly flexible. Sakis, our skilled driver and guide, expertly navigated the schedule to cater to our interests while ensuring we saw everything. A standout was the visit to a quaint homemade restaurant, where we savored delicious local cuisine. Sakis's profound knowledge of historical facts and contagious enthusiasm made each stop fascinating and enjoyable.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words, Ginny! Knowing that the stop at that quaint homemade restaurant — with its delicious local cuisine — became a standout of your day truly warms my heart. Sakis takes great pride in making every guest feel like a true insider rather than just a tourist, and your wonderful feedback reflects exactly the experience we strive to create. We would absolutely love to welcome you back to Crete again one day! Leonidas, Founder of Crete Wanderer

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chania.
How much does Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion cost?
+
Prices start at $114 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chania usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chania is not rushed.
Is Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chania, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chania can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chania and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private VIP Tour: Elafonissi & Chania Old Town from Heraklion start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chania within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chania?
+
On Outty we rank every Chania experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Rethymno Quad Safari, Elafonisi & Falasarna Small Group Tour from Chania w/snacks, Balos & Falassarna Beach - Jeep Tour with Loungers and Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chania?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chania?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
