Stop searching, and book this tour.
Book this tour without hesitation. Pick an 8am departure, sit back and enjoy. Our guide Jim (Jimmy Vegas) was put on earth to do this tour, a true historian of Vegas and all things adventurous.
Response from the operator: Dear Chase, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such an incredible review of your Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour. “Stop searching, and book this tour” is about as meaningful a recommendation as we could ever hope to receive, and we are truly grateful. We are especially thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your day with Jim, affectionately known as “Jimmy Vegas.” Your description that he was “put on earth to do this tour” could not be more fitting. Jimmy has an extraordinary knowledge of Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, the surrounding desert, and the fascinating history that shaped this region. More importantly, he has a genuine passion for sharing those stories in a way that makes the entire experience interesting, personal, and memorable. Our Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour is designed to be much more than simply getting from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam. From the moment we pick our guests up, our goal is to create a seamless private experience where they can relax, ask questions, discover the history of the region, enjoy the scenery along the way, and experience Hoover Dam without having to worry about driving, parking, logistics, timing, or navigating the day on their own. Having an exceptional private guide like Jimmy is at the heart of what makes that experience special. We also appreciate your recommendation of the 8:00 AM departure. Getting an early start is a wonderful way to enjoy the journey and make the most of the entire experience. Thank you again for choosing Another Side Tours and for recommending us so highly to future travelers. Your review means a tremendous amount to Jimmy and to our entire team, and we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to have been part of your visit to Las Vegas. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another private adventure with us in Las Vegas, San Diego, or Los Angeles. Warmly, Kenneth C. Lippman President & CEO Another Side Tours, Inc.

Spend Your Money Elsewhere
I have never purchased a package tour before, and after this experience, I never will again. This so-called “Private VIP” tour was neither private nor VIP. It was an outrageously overpriced transportation service wrapped in a layer of rehearsed trivia and cheap theatrics. In practical terms, we paid approximately $850 for two people for what amounted to a $60 Uber ride and a roughly 25-minute dam tour that anyone can book directly for around $25 per person. To make matters worse, it was not even the better of the two tours offered at the dam. The company has since changed the name of this tour, which frankly tells you everything you need to know. When a product is this misleading, apparently the solution is not to improve it, but to rename it. Our “tour guide” recited a few memorized facts and dates during the drive, then handed us off to the dam’s own tour guide, who appeared completely uninterested in being there. There was nothing exclusive, customized, premium, or remotely worthy of the “VIP” label. The final insult was an absurd bit of smoke and mirrors involving a restaurant. Our guide recommended a place that was supposedly “very difficult to get into,” then claimed to have “pulled some strings” to secure us seats at the bar. When we arrived, the bar was half empty. Our seats were the only ones marked “reserved.” It was laughably transparent and deeply insulting. This entire experience felt like a calculated rip-off: an ordinary ride, a publicly available tour, and a staged restaurant reservation presented as some kind of luxury insider experience. I am disgusted that Tripadvisor allows something this misleading and grossly overpriced to be marketed as a “Private VIP” tour. I will never book another package tour through Tripadvisor, and I will warn anyone who asks me about this experience. Save your money. Take a $60 Uber or rent a car, purchase the dam tour directly, and avoid paying hundreds of dollars per person for reheated facts, fake exclusivity, and a completely manufactured “VIP” experience. This was not a premium tour. It was a hoax with a luxury price tag.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify several points for prospective guests reading this review. Our Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour includes private transportation in a brand-new Cadillac Escalade, hotel pickup and drop-off, an experienced professional guide, bottled water, snacks, and personalized service throughout the experience. The private and VIP elements refer to the luxury vehicle, dedicated guide, customized attention, and private transportation provided exclusively for your party. The interior Hoover Dam tour is operated by the federal government and conducted by Bureau of Reclamation personnel. No private tour operator is permitted to conduct an exclusive interior tour of the dam, and this is explained in the tour description. We have also not changed the name of this tour, so we are unsure what the reviewer is referring to with that statement. Regarding the restaurant, our guide offered a recommendation and attempted to assist with seating as a courtesy. There was never any intention to misrepresent the restaurant or manufacture a false sense of exclusivity. We are particularly disappointed that the guest did not contact us during or after the tour to express these concerns. Had we been given the opportunity, we would have gladly discussed the experience directly and done everything reasonably possible to address the situation. We encourage prospective guests to read the many reviews from travelers who have experienced our tours. This review is not representative of the service, professionalism, luxury transportation, or personal attention that we consistently provide. We are proud of our longstanding reputation and the many guests who have described our guides and private tours as highlights of their visit to Las Vegas.

Great tour with Jimmy Vegas
Toured the Hoover Dam with Jimmy yesterday. Jimmy arrived on time in a lux Cadillac with cold water & snacks and full air con (important when it's 95°+ out!). Highlights of the trip include Jimmy's knowledge of the quirky bits of the dam inc the old school toilets, the astral map and the dam dog, the Lake Mead lookout & our visit with the big horn sheep 🐏 Great drink & food in Boulder City then a list of recommendations for spots to hit up in Vegas itself on the drive back. Jimmy is an awesome guide, super passionate about the area and full of adventure stories that most if us can only dream about. Thanks again, we had the best time!
Response from the operator: Hi pinballwyzard, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a fantastic review. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you had the best time on your Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour with Jimmy Vegas. Jimmy truly loves sharing the history, hidden stories, and unique details that make Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Boulder City, and the surrounding area so special. I am so glad you enjoyed the cold water and snacks, the comfortable Cadillac, the quirky dam facts, the Lake Mead lookout, the bighorn sheep, and Jimmy’s recommendations for the rest of your time in Las Vegas. Your kind words mean a great deal to Jimmy and to our entire team. Thank you again for choosing Another Side Of Las Vegas Tours. We would love to host you again anytime for another adventure in Las Vegas, San Diego, or Los Angeles. All the best, Kenneth

The guide was...
The guide was knowledgeable, but overall this tour was not the right fit for our group, especially considering the cost. We were hoping for a fairly quick and focused trip to Hoover Dam, but much of the tour felt more centered on the guide’s personal stories than on the experience we were expecting. There was also an uncomfortable moment where the guide yelled at my daughter over something that did not seem necessary, which I did not appreciate. While this guide’s style may work well for some groups, it did not translate well for a car with women and children. Overall, I would not say this was a bad tour, but it was not the experience we were hoping for and did not feel worth the price for us.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I am pleased to hear that you found your guide knowledgeable, I am truly sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations. At Another Side Tours, we strive to create personalized, engaging, and memorable experiences for every guest, and it is disappointing to hear that the tour did not feel as focused on the Hoover Dam experience as you had hoped. We also take your comments regarding the interaction with your daughter very seriously. Creating a welcoming, respectful, and comfortable environment for all guests, especially families, is extremely important to us, and I sincerely apologize if any part of the experience made your family feel otherwise. We appreciate honest feedback because it helps us continue to improve both our tours and our training. While many guests enjoy a more conversational guiding style, we understand that every group has different expectations, and it sounds like we missed the mark in tailoring the experience to your preferences. Thank you again for traveling with us and for sharing your perspective. We value your business and will use your comments as an opportunity to continue improving the guest experience we deliver. Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Las Vegas.
How much does Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $329 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Las Vegas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Las Vegas is not rushed.
Is Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Las Vegas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Las Vegas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Las Vegas and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private VIP Hoover Dam Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Las Vegas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Las Vegas?
+
Las Vegas sells two trips at once: the Strip after dark, and the red-rock desert that starts twenty minutes past the last casino. Helicopter runs to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam half-days and Red Rock Canyon drives all leave early, while show tickets, speakeasy crawls and high-roller dining fill the evening. Outty Ranking weighs operator reliability heavily here, because the gap between a well-run desert tour and a coach-and-queue version is enormous. On Outty we rank every Las Vegas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Valley of Fire Half Day Tour from Las Vegas, Small Group Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains VIP Tour, Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam Stop, Breakfast, Lunch & Skywalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?
+
October to April. Summer highs above 105F make midday outdoor tours punishing. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Las Vegas?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
