What you get

    About this experience

Your host Putu will pick you up in the early morning and drive you to the Pejeng market, bursting with locals shopping. Putu will introduce you to the seasonal fruits, vegetables and spices on offer, and you’ll pick up a few ingredients for your upcoming cooking lesson. The market offers wonderful photo opportunities, so don't forget to bring your camera! Back home, you'll work together to prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes. As you chop, grind and grill Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes as well as the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients. Putu's kitchen is simple, with only a two burner cooktop, and you'll be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she can prepare a complex menu with multiple dishes. Potential dishes could be Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (chili sauce), or a curry dish. The cooking lesson will last about 1-2 hours before you sit down and enjoy the meal.

    Ubud must-do!!

My friends and I had the best time with Putu!! The market tour and cooking class were probably one of our favorite Bali experiences. We are so grateful to Putu for opening her home to us. She introduced us to Balinese food and recipes, and also gave us a glimpse into family, personal lives, and religious and cultural traditions. I would absolutely recommend this experience to everyone. If I come back to Bali, I would definitely enjoy another visit with her!

    Authentic

Putu, Pashka and Made hosted my wife and I to a great cooking class. To be welcomed into the family compound was an honour. Putu described the compound layout and architecture aswell as diving deep into the gods which Putu offers everyday. We prepared six meals which all tasted fantastic because of the depth that Putu taught in traditional techniques. I seldom review anything on the internet. I genuinely recommend this Balinese cooking class.

    Amazing time with Putu!

Had an amazing experience with Putu and her family! Putu is very warm and hospitable. She also taught us to make amazing Balinese food. It felt like hanging out with family. Her garden is absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting Bali.

PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.

How much does PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu cost?

    +

Prices start at $49 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.

Is PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 131 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu?

    +

Around 46 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does PRIVATE Ubud Market Tour & Balinese Home Cooking Class with Putu start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ubud?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ubud?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ubud?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
