About this experience

There are only two types of people - those who love Banská Štiavnica and those who have never been there before. Why to visit our Europe’s El Dorado or the Silver Town?

The city sits in the middle of a caldera.
Glory of the city thanks to the two salamanders. Discover the story behind them. The golden era goes back to the 18th Century when it was the third largest city in the Hungarian Empire by 1783.

One of the richest cities in Europe and believe it or not, Vienna and Budapest were built on the silver and gold extracted here.

According to the World Record Academy, the longest love poem was written here. Last but not least, the first official photographer of The Beatles was born in Banská Štiavnica.
The Rolling Stones, Brigitte Bardot, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix and many more, they all stood in front of his camera. If you are interested, we can visit his house with an exhibition, admission is on a voluntary basis.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

How many days do you need in Bratislava?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
