What you get

    About this experience

The Jinshanling Great Wall is a complicated and well preserved fortification systems and possesses the largest number of watchtowers. These watchtowers were made by huge bricks, 5-8 miles high, and each one built in a different architectural style. The distance between each tower is about 50 to100 miles away. Some of them are half-timbered, some are stone, some with one eave, some with two-eave. The roofs of the towers are many and varied, flat, arched, quadrangular or octagonal. It is an exemplary section of the Great Wall and hence comes the saying that the Jinshanling section is the most essential part of the 10,000-li (6,700 kilometres) Great Wall.

Fabulous and informative day out walking on the Great Wall of China

We had the most wonderful day with Peter walki non the Great Wall. He was incredibly attentive and informative and made our experience one to truly remember. We even had a very enjoyable meal at a friendly local restaurant to end the day. Thank you so much!g

Guida fantastica: competente, educata e disponibile.

PERFECT! The guide Peter is amazing: knowledgeable, polite, and with a great English. Weather was very good and, following the recommendation from the guide, we dodged the crowed time of the day. Super happy, kudos to Peter! ☺️

Fabulous Great Wall Trek away from the crowds

Excellent tour with Peter . Walked part of the wall that was not renovated , beautiful, unspoilt and quiet . Peter was very knowledgeable and helpful navigating the terrain. Fabulous lunch where the local Farmers prepared a meal that catered to my Gluten Free diet whilst still being authentic and flavourful. Second stage was on a renovated section , equally stunning and quiet. Whole trip 5 star .

    AWESOME EXPERIENCE

We had a fantastic time on this tour amd would highly recommend. As many other reviews have already stated, it was just unbelievable how quiet the section of the wall was. Peter made the experience fun, friendly and was the perfect tour guide. Transportation was organised, efficient and safe. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience!

Avoid the crowds! Private guided hikes along the serene Goubeikou and Jinshanling sections of the Great Wall.

Local guides, Peter and James, picked us up at our hotel in a comfortable minivan and drove us for 90 minutes to the Goubeikou section of the Great Wall. We hiked about 4.5 miles both to, from and along the wall as Peter gave us a thorough history of both China and specifically the Great Wall. His concern for our safety as well as his friendliness and knowledge made the first half of the day quite enjoyable. In addition, Peter was an excellent photographer and helped us capture the beauty and sheer scale of the wall. Next, we drove 20 minutes to the Jinshanling portion of the wall and enjoyed lunch at a local B&B. This was hands down the best food I’ve had in China over our last 10 years of travel in the country. After a great meal with James and Peter, we hiked our way up the mountain to the Jinshanling portion of the wall. The views were amazing, and we were surprised to find that we were the only people hiking the wall. The second hike was even better than the first! We hiked until dusk and enjoyed a comfortable ride back to our hotel. In total we hiked, 6.7 miles.

Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall cost?

    +

Prices start at $98 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Trekking Tour from Gubeikou to Jinshanling Greatwall start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
