5 Star travel experience!
My husband and I booked Private Travel Costa Rica for 3 transfers during our recent trip to Costa Rica. The cars were always onetime, clean and we felt cared for every step of the way. Communication was easy and always available. Luis' team was wonderful. Everyone was happy to give us a bit of history or tell us about the areas we were driving by. We even stopped for meals and to see a sloth and they had a pair of binoculars in the van. Drinks and snacks were offered and overall every drive was smooth and left us feeling safe and taken care of. We will use Luis and his team again.

Would Recommend
Communications prior to the activity were timely and complete. I was told that they would track my flight and respond to changes of schedule if necessary. This was helpful as there was about a one hour delay. Very nice, current model and comfortable vehicle. Driver made himself easy to find amongst a large group of travelers. His digital name display was very effective. Driver, Oscar, presented as professional in his attire, mannerisms, and genuine concern for the needs and comfort of the passengers. A very busy traffic area, combined with an accident in our path, made for a long, difficult trip as was raining and conducted largely in the darkness. He di a very good, job.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review! We’re glad to hear you were happy with the communication, vehicle, and service. Oscar will be very happy to know his professionalism and care made a difference, even under challenging conditions. We truly appreciate your trust and hope to serve you again soon.

Exceptional transportation with Diego
Diego Salas is hands down one of the best transportation providers we've ever encountered! He provided us with reliable, safe, and stress-free transport between SJO Airport and La Fortuna, making the start and end of our trip to Costa Rica absolutely seamless. Diego was always punctual, friendly, and incredibly professional. As a driver, he prioritized safety without compromising on efficiency, making us feel completely at ease during the journey. His vehicle was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, perfect for long drives. Beyond transportation, Diego went above and beyond by helping us arrange some fantastic activities, including ziplining tours and a chocolate-making class. His local knowledge and connections were invaluable, and the experiences he recommended were highlights of our trip. Diego's helpful and warm demeanor made him a joy to travel with. He truly cares about his clients and goes the extra mile to ensure you have a great experience. If you’re visiting Costa Rica, don’t hesitate to book with Diego Salas. He’s a true gem and a key to an unforgettable trip!

Travel Agent Approved!
Diego was a wonderful tour guide and driver. As a travel agent, I will definitely recommend him to other agents and clients. We booked the transfer to our resort, then contacted him for a day of touring. He provided ideas and suggestions on places to visit and took us to the most authentic locations! Book this one!

Highly recommend
We were picked up from our hotel in a very nice and new shuttle. Diego was about 10 minutes early and he was courteous and friendly, a good and safe driver. We had 2 quick pit stops on our way there, first for some coffee and quick restroom break and then at a fruit stand where they had very fresh and delicious coconuts, mangoes, and rambutan in season. We would highly recommend this company.

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Alajuela.
How much does Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna cost?
+
Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Alajuela usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Alajuela is not rushed.
Is Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Alajuela, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Alajuela can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Alajuela and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Transfer San José Airport - La Fortuna start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Alajuela within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Alajuela?
+
On Outty we rank every Alajuela experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Arenal Volcano Full-Day Combo Tour with Lunch and Dinner, Arenal Volcano Experience Full-Day Tour from San Jose, Manuel Antonio National Park Sightseeing and Wildlife Day Tour from San Jose. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Alajuela?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Alajuela?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
