Private Transfer POP Puerto Plata Airport to Hotels in Puerto Plata

We booked with Diamond tours for the second time for our transfer from Puerto Plata airport to our Airbnb in Playa Dorada about 20 mins away. Previously in 2025 we used this company with excellent results. Driver was waiting with a sign with our name with a van as we exited the airport. Driver was professional and wearing a uniform. There was 4 of us at 2 airbnbs condo buildings side by side. We were each dropped off at our condos within walking distance. Since we had a good experience we decided to book again this year February 2026. We rented an airbnb for the month of February. This time we booked with a different couple. 4 people 4 luggage. Our flight was delayed maybe half hour. I was trying to get my phone to work inside the airport but it was kaos trying to get through customs, getting luggage and finding our friends so we just exited the airport and looked for our driver. He was No where in site. Tried getting my phone to work but I couldn't so we used our friends phone. Called Diamond tours and said we are here. Meanwhile at least half hour has gone by. Little communication because of language barrier. Using Google translate. other taxi drivers telling us Diamond tours are not so reliable. Driver finally shows up in a small suv. He had no clue as to how to load all the luggage into this small suv. Other taxi drivers helped him. Then driver did not want to do 2 stops. I had a text requesting 2 stops at 2 separate airbnbs but next to each other. Again trying to communicate with Google translate. Finally I just said drop us at the one condo and we will walk over. Its walking distance but with luggage its a pain. Finally the boss on the phone said how far is it. I said we can walk, its right next door. Oh ok. We take you. Finally get our ride to our respective condos. Another group of friends used this same service this February as well. They did Not get picked up from the airport and had to take a taxi and pay extra for this taxi while already prepaying for return transportation. he did show up for the return ride back to airport. Group of 6. For our ride back to airport I emailed to confirm our return ride: date, time address, # of people and luggage. One pick up. So we walked our luggage over to our friends condo and waited and waited. I emailed asking where our driver was and I texted the driver we had from airport. Driver responded and ask what I needed. Told him we are waiting for our pick up for 2:30 pm. It is now 2:45. Our flight is 5:30. No reposnse. I said we will be taking a taxi if no one is here in 5 min. OK he says. So we arranged for a taxi with our security guard at the condo costing an extra $50 US on top of the $100 US we already prepaid for a return trip. I emailed again saying that it was 3 pm and we were in taxi going to airport. Also how stressful and how disappointing the service was. We have a flight to get home and no ride hoping we get there on time. It was longer than usual because of traffic but did make it on time with little time to spare. I never had any response to any emails. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Wonderful experience

Great drivers, and wonderful people. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and what's available. The driver was kind and his english was good. Would highly recommend again. Thank you very much.

Excellent service and vehicles.

Fendi was a great driver. The vehicle was clean and new. The shades on the windows really helped keep the sun and heat out. He was patient and accommodating.

Unbelievable experience we could have lived without

Upon arrival after flight delays and missed flight we had to ask several people to point out where the car service that were using was located. Our names was on the floor and covered by employees standing around. Once located I pointed out my name and asked how long it would be the first employees asked me 3 times if it was paid for and if I was sure. We were then asked to walk about 20 feet away and stand next to the curb with our 3 children and multiple bags. We were told it will be 10 to 15 mins. I went to get some snacks and water for the kids during that time the transportation arrived my wife started to call me and the representative told her it is ok. She then instructed my wife and 3 kids to cross 2 streets with heavy traffic despite her being adamant to wait for me. When I arrived to the transportation it was not the SUV that I requested nor did it have the child seat and beverage that I also requested. The driver was amazing he even played kids cartoons on his phone so the kids can be entertained. When we arrived he took out all of ous luggage and did a check of the vehicle with me. During this experience the only great outcome was the driver understand the 2 stars is only because the driver was good. If I can write a review solely for him please provide me a link and I will change this review to 1 star.
