Comfortable round trip transfer from Naples to Mount Vesuvius
Since we were looking for a customized 1/2 day itinerary, this trip was a great choice for us. Given the temperatures in July, we decided to skip Pompeii and just concentrate on Mount Vesuvius. We were promptly picked up by Vittorio at Naples Central train station at 7:30 am. Per the instructions from the company, we had already purchased the entrance tickets to Mt Vesuvius for an entry time of 9 am. We completed our hike and headed back to Naples at 10:30 and reached Naples at 11:15 am. It was actually the best decision to skip Pompeii since we could enjoy one activity- Mt Vesuvius. Vittorio was wonderful- he clearly accommodated our needs. While he had to park down the hill, he anticipated our return time from the hike and met us closer to the entrance with a “cool” car with full A/C blast! After a 1.5 hours of round trip hike, that felt like heaven! I have taken out 1 star for the following reasons: 1. Incorrect description: In my opinion, it’s almost impossible to to cover both Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii in 4 hours. Round trip to Naples it self takes 1.5 hours. If you add 1.5 hours at Mt Vesuvius, 30 mins of transfer to Pompeii and 2 hours at Pompeii, the total time needed is at least 5.5 to 6 hours. 2. The title of this service should be “transfer” instead of “tour”, to avoid confusion and misinterpretation about the driver being the tour guide. 3. One week before the trip, we changed our arrival time and messaged the operator via Trip Advisor messaging service. However, they didn’t reply for almost 3 days. Finally, I had to get hold of Viator customer service two times so that they could follow up. On the second attempt, I finally got the response and everything was ok from that point. Overall, I’d definitely pick this company for private transfer in the Naples area. However, I do have to agree that they are a bit expensive.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for this review. We will take note of the notes you have provided, have a nice day and hope to see you again. Marianna

Do Not Book this Company
If you are looking for a Private Tour as the title of this listing says, DO NOT book this trip. What we received was an overpriced drive to Pompeii and back. Our driver did not speak English as requested but was friendly. He wasn't able to point out anything along the way. When he picked us up the van couldn't accommodate our 7 passengers even though this was booked 2 months in advance so we had to stop and trade vans with another driver. I would highly recommend you take the train to Pompeii as it is only a few dollars per person. Wish I had known before being ripped off by this company. I have reached out to them to discuss our disappointment but they said they did as they were supposed to.
Response from the operator: hello, I am very sorry for what you wrote, we have already talked about it in private and I have given you all the explanations you needed, in any case I will explain myself in the same way here too. You have booked a tour for Vesuvius but unfortunately you have not purchased the tickets which must be purchased online and are separate, it is written in the information and we have also attached the site to purchase them since it is not our regulation that they can only be purchased online, on the other hand it is also written that we do not have a guide included on board as we are a transfer service and we also offer tours, the guide would have been included if you had purchased tickets for the visit to the cone of Vesuvius which you did not. If you decide to buy a guide for the excavations of Pompeii this cannot affect us, it is you who decides to do it in addition. Lastly, there was no change of minivan, because the one we have supplied has the perfect capacity for up to 9 people with the driver included, plus it was she who decided she wanted to stay in Pompeii, thus recovering the hour she would have used on Vesuvius, thus making a tour of 4 hours in total as described. Since she had not purchased tickets for Vesuvius and the driver remained at her complete disposal for all hours in case she wanted to make any changes. What she writes is serious and we are a 'serious and professional agency and we have not robbed anyone, they would have been free to go by train but would not have had any type of comfort, you pay for the service that is provided. I advise you to read all the information before making a reservation, I wish you a good day, Marianna

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amalfi.
How much does Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum cost?
+
Prices start at $550 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amalfi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amalfi is not rushed.
Is Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amalfi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amalfi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amalfi and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Transfer Pompeii Herculaneum start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amalfi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amalfi?
+
On Outty we rank every Amalfi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hands-On Cooking Class & Farmhouse Tour on the Amalfi Coast, Amalfi Coast Boat Rental: Explore, Swim, and Relax at Your Pace, Amalfi: Kayak-Snorkeling to Pandora Cave Hidden Beach & Aperitif. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amalfi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amalfi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
