Sorrento Rome trip
Simone was an excellent driver. He was very accommodating to our needs while travelling on this trip. Our trip from Sorrento to Rome was seamless and very comfortable. We would highly recommend Viator as a company and Simone as a driver.

Gracie Mario…
Mario was extremely professional, courteous and on time. He drove us from Sorrento to Roma in a wonderful air conditioned vehicle that made everything very comfortable. A job well done!

My elderly mother was...
My elderly mother was forced to drag her suitcase across two blocks of cobblestone roads uphill in the hot summer sun. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. There was a stop right near our hotel that was accessible by car, but our driver refused and said he couldn’t drive in the historic center rather than go around to the other side where cars were allowed to drive. There are cars dropping off right to the side of our hotel, but he only would go to the back side blocks away rather than take us around to the corner. He didn’t speak enough English for us to explain and I tried to use Google Translate to explain and he told me to “call hotel” and just kept pointing up the road. Again, there was another route where cars could drop off right next to the hotel (I can see them passing right now and parked along the side as I write this!) The drive itself was fine. He showed up on time at our hotel and stopped for us to use the restroom. But the end was bad enough that I can only leave one star, and I *never* even write reviews. We tipped our driver and I’m upset that we even did that. So upset.
Response from the operator: Good evening, Madam. I am sorry that you still do not seem to understand that there are laws that must be followed. Your hotel is located in the middle of a square where driving up is prohibited; as you were informed, the square is closed off, and vans are not permitted to stop there—there is a restriction that applies to everyone. There is a designated loading and unloading zone just 100 meters away from where you were dropped off; we asked you to call the hotel for assistance with your luggage, but you refused. We regret that you did not understand the situation, but I assure you that we could not have dropped you off any closer than the legally permitted spot. Furthermore, I reiterate that it was not as far away as you claim; we have just verified this using the vehicle's GPS. Thank you for your understanding.

Toddler-friendly transport
Mario made sure that we had a toddler and infant seat for our kids. Our driver was slightly late, but Mario was in contact with him and we were able to find him shortly after. The driver got us to our destination quickly and safely.

The Way to Go!
Mario touched base a few days before our drive, and provided us the name of our driver. Fabio, our driver, arrived on-time to our pickup location. We had a Mini Cooper for the drive. It was clean and we appreciated the water waiting for us. Fabio is a speedy driver, but safe. We were happy to arrive to Rome quickly. But, we would recommend that anyone else who is considering this tour do this: Clarify, with your driver, regarding lunch and other stops. We ended up at a vineyard for a wine tasting and tour. We were offered to stop for lunch, but we didn't know the entire plan. It could have easily added an hour to our travel time. The vineyard is stunning, and worth the visit. But, it wasn’t how we wanted to spend an afternoon. Plus, it was pricey. Maybe the company could offer this as a separate tour, in the future. And then spell out what passengers would do at the vineyard, how long they would be there, what they would eat/drink, and how much it would cost, (additionally). Overall, we were happy with the drive itself. Fast, smooth… “The Way to Go!”

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.
How much does Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.
Is Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private transfer from Sorrento to Rome or vice versa start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sorrento?
+
On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sorrento?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sorrento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
