A transfer into one of our favorite days in Italy

We booked this tour thinking it would be a comfortable and convenient way to travel from Rome to Sorrento and visit Pompeii along the way. What we ended up getting was so much more! A full day of laughter, beautiful scenery, great food, and a bunch of memories. Lorenzo was absolutely wonderful from the moment we met him. He was funny, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had an amazing experience. Not only did he drive us from place to place; he went out of his way to show us incredible scenic overlooks and special local spots that we never would have found on our own. Lorenzo even introduced us to members of his own family, which made the experience feel especially personal. It honestly felt less like we were spending the day with a tour guide and more like we were being shown around by an old friend. We also had an incredible lunch at La Conca Azzurra, with delicious food and stunning cliffside views. Lorenzo was so focused on taking care of us that we practically had to convince him (against his better judgment) to finally sit down and eat with us! Later, Lorenzo brought us to a frozen lemonade stand, and I’m pretty sure he introduced me to my new favorite treat. It was such a simple stop, but it perfectly captured what made the entire day so special. Lorenzo knew exactly where to take us and how to turn every part of the journey into an experience. Perhaps the best way to explain the impact Lorenzo had on our family is through our photos. At the beginning of the day, he was the one taking pictures of us. By the end, we wouldn’t let him take another photo unless he was in it with us. Lorenzo didn’t just provide an excellent tour, he made us feel welcomed, cared for, and connected to the places we visited. We cannot recommend this experience, or Lorenzo, highly enough. If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide, you are in for a truly unforgettable day.

Friendly professional service

Lorenzo picked us up at our AirBnB in Rome and took us to Pompei where we were greeted by our private guide. He waited for us while we toured Pompei. The guide was one of the best we had. Upon our return, Lorenzo made a great recommendation for lunch, which worked out perfectly. Then onto Sorrento, where Lorenzo planned out the drop off directly with our AirBnB host as the property was in a pedestrian only area. Lorenzo also took us back to FCO from Sorrento with the same level of professional service, making sure we were there with plenty of time to get checked in for our flight home.

Excellent transfer experience with Gennaro

Gennaro picked us up from from the Naples train station - he was so helpful and kept in communication with us even when our train was late. He brought us to Pompeii for our private tour and picked us up when it was over. He lent us umbrellas for the rain when we didn’t have any and was always so punctual, making sure we did not have to wait. He then drove us to our hotel in Sorrento. The entire drive he was so friendly, talking to us about the cities, local restaurants, and local spots. He was very knowledgeable and a treat to spend the rest of the afternoon with. We highly recommend hiring Gennaro for any driving services :)

Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii cost?

+

Prices start at $190 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private transfer from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
