Great Cooking Experience in Mexico City!

Margarita was an amazing host and we had a cooking lesson at her very beautiful house. She showed us how to make a full course meal including how to make a lovely sauce as well as a very simple but delicous dessert. She also gave us some wine while we ate which was a lovely Mexican White wine. The process was easy to follow and we plan to use almost everything we learned again to cook back home. I would highly recommend her and thank you Margarita for showing us a lovely time.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with Margarita in her beautiful home. It sounds like you had a fantastic experience learning how to prepare a delicious full course Mexican meal, from the flavorful sauce to the simple yet delightful dessert. We're also glad you enjoyed sharing the meal with a lovely local white wine. It's especially rewarding to know that the recipes were easy to follow and that you'll be recreating them back home. That's exactly the kind of lasting memory we hope every guest takes away from our experiences. Thank you again for your kind recommendation. We hope to welcome you on another Traveling Spoon culinary adventure in the future!

    Wonderful Cooking Class

Margarita’s cooking class: We had a wonderful time cooking at Margarita’s home and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mexico City. Her home is beautiful and located in a lovely part of the city, creating the perfect setting for an authentic and memorable afternoon. From the moment we arrived, Margarita was warm, attentive, and highly professional. More than just a cooking class, this felt like an invitation into Mexican culture and family life. Being welcomed into her home gave us the opportunity to learn not only about Mexican cuisine, but also about the traditions, values, and stories that surround it. Margarita answered all of our questions thoughtfully and made sure everyone in our group had the chance to participate. She was especially wonderful with the kids, involving them throughout the process and teaching techniques in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. Margarita thoughtfully accommodated our dietary needs and tailored the menu to our group. For our class, we prepared sopes, cactus salad, chicken mole, Mexican white rice, and a delicious guava dessert. Every dish was flavorful, easy to recreate at home, and offered insight into traditional Mexican cooking. Her attention to detail was exceptional, and she shared countless tips and techniques that we will continue to use long after our vacation. There is a wonderful balance between cooking, learning, relaxing, and enjoying the food you prepare together. It never felt rushed, and we appreciated having time to savor both the meal and the experience. By the end of the afternoon, we felt as though we had spent time with a friend rather than simply attended a cooking class. Margarita’s kindness, generosity, and passion for sharing her culture made this one of the highlights of our trip. We would gladly do this again on a future visit to Mexico City.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We are delighted to hear that your experience with Margarita was such a memorable highlight of your time in Mexico City. It is wonderful to know that you felt warmly welcomed into her home and that the experience offered not only a hands-on introduction to Mexican cuisine, but also a deeper connection to the culture, traditions, and family life that make these experiences so special. We are especially pleased that Margarita was able to accommodate your dietary preferences and create an engaging experience for every member of your group, including the children. We love hearing that you enjoyed preparing such a delicious variety of traditional dishes and that Margarita’s tips, techniques, and attention to detail left you feeling inspired to recreate them at home. Creating a relaxed atmosphere where guests can cook, learn, share stories, and enjoy a meal together is exactly what we hope for. Thank you again for your kind words and recommendation. We will be sure to share your feedback with Margarita, who will be thrilled to know that her warmth, generosity, and passion for sharing her culture made such a lasting impression. We would be delighted to welcome you back on a future visit to Mexico City.

    Wonderful Cooking Class and Lunch

Margarita was a wonderful instructor and incredibly engaging. We cooked a full dinner with appetizers, main course, sides and dessert. The 2 salsas prepared beat anything we can buy in the states, and so simple. Getting to know her and cooking alongside her was a highlight of our stay.

PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.

How much does PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home cost?

    +

Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home take?

    +

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.

Is PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does PRIVATE Traditional Mexico City Cooking Class in a Beautiful Home start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mexico City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
