    About this experience

Wooden windmills and traditional greenhouses lining the water, fields of colourful tulips and craft shops dating back to the 18th-century: The heritage site Zaanse Schans is as picturesque as it can get. The village houses a collection of centuries-old windmills and charming wooden houses, most of which were moved there in the 1960s to preserve their cultural heritage. Yet Zaanse Schans is not a museum, there are actual people living in the houses and several windmills are still working. There is also a clog-factory, a bakery museum, and a traditional farm where you can sample delicious Dutch cheeses. www.dezaanseschans.nl Enter a traditional windmill and taste some delicious cheese. A Scam!

This was a scam. Ridiculous scam! No tour involved. $700 for a pick-up and drop-off service for 5 people to Zaanse Schans which is $130-$140 by Taxi. Btw, the company did send an actual taxi! The driver called after 3.5 hours and said that we are late and there will be an extra charge. Ridiculous! The tour said 4 hours and the driver never told us what time to get back!

Response from the operator: Hello Mazhar Thank you that you took your time to give us a Review. Sorry to hear that it was not what you had imagined. If you look in the itinerary, you will see that the time is 3 hours in the Zaanse Schans and 1 hour to get there and get back to the Hotel. The moment I heard your disappointment i tried to call you, but nobody picked up the phone to explain what you ordered. I sent you a message in the Viator system, but no reaction. Because you didn't read what's included in this tour, i will send you it again. What's Included Air-conditioned vehicle Private transportation WiFi on board excluding private guide + TIP What did you get! A Private Driver who was on standby A 1e class Minivan for you and your family. The driver gave you an extra hour with an extra spot for photos. it is a little disappointed that you gave us a 1-star review because you didn't know what kind of reservation was made. Gr Lodewijk

    A Great Experience

Our driver Johan met us on time and was very friendly and courteous. He pointed out many interesting sites on our drive out of town, and was very helpful the whole trip. Can't recommend them enough. A great experience.

How much does Private Tour to Zaanse Schans (Windmill Village) 4 hrs 1-15 pers cost?

    +

Prices start at $639 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour to Zaanse Schans (Windmill Village) 4 hrs 1-15 pers take?

    +

Is Private Tour to Zaanse Schans (Windmill Village) 4 hrs 1-15 pers worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Private Tour to Zaanse Schans (Windmill Village) 4 hrs 1-15 pers suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour to Zaanse Schans (Windmill Village) 4 hrs 1-15 pers?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
