While it is always fun to visit the bustling downtown and go on gourmet tours, some of you might be wanting a slightly different experience—well, we have a tour that's just right for you! The Maruyama area, only 20 minutes from Sapporo by train, is a well-kept secret where you can experience the nature and culture of Sapporo over the course of half a day. The Sapporo Olympic Museum is a facility where you can learn about the history of the games and experience the thrills associated with them. You can try your hand at some of these winter sports via the hugely popular simulators present within the museum. After touring the museum, take a chair lift up to the Okurayama Viewing Point, used as a ski jump even today, and enjoy the exciting view that only athletes would get to see otherwise. At the base of Okurayama is Hokkaido Jingu, one of the most famous power spots in Hokkaido.

Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium
Okurayama Viewing Point : This was the ski jump venue for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, and is currently still in use in official ski jump competitions. Ascend to the top via the chair lifts and be mesmerised by the view of the Sapporo cityscape from high up, and have your breath taken away by the steep gradient of the ski jump!

Hokkaido Jingu : This Shinto shrine, representative of Hokkaido, was built as a place of worship for the settlers who first came to the island. At this shrine overflowing with nature, the three gods said to have created and developed the land, as well as the Meiji Emperor, are enshrined within, and it is also known as one of the best power-spots in Hokkaido.

Be sure to get one fresh out of the oven and savour its delicious taste!
