Sula Kizito - Driver / Guide for personalized Ugandan Safaris with Lifetime Experience Safaris

The name of the driver/guide that I would like to review is Sulaiman Kizito. Everyone calls him Sula, and it seems that almost everyone in Uganda knows him. I have had the good luck to visit several countries in Africa and go on many safaris. I have had good guides on all of my adventures. However, I have never had a guide as wonderful as Sula. Our first sighting of Sula was at the Entebbe airport when a broad shouldered fellow with a giant smile greeted us with a sign with my name on it. I admit that I was taken aback in the first minutes by the fact that despite his sturdy build and confident demeanor, Sula is disabled to a degree, and he walks with some difficulty. This concern melted away immediately as he ushered us to the Landcruiser and hoisted our numerous pieces of luggage into the back. Right from the inception of our journey through large swaths of Uganda Sula was full of relevant information about our surroundings, the lifestyle of the population, local agriculture, indigenous plants and animals and culture. I was continually surprised by the extent of his knowledge, yet when he did not know an answer, he was quick to say so. Two of the most important characteristics that Sula brought to the journey were his eagle eyes and his driving skills. Again and again he surprised us by pointing out birds and other animals that he saw at great distances while simultaneously driving on a difficult stretch of road. It was like he had eyes at the side of his head. He would spot something, stop the jeep and if necessary back up a bit to make it easier for us to see what he had seen. He was good not only at spotting things, but also at describing where in the spread of savannah before us we could fix on the animal or bird. He never lost patience with our desire to take multiple pictures, and even volunteered to photograph for us if we wanted to be in the picture too. We were two couples and both of us are experienced 4-wheel drivers who have spent years behind the wheels of jeeps. One thing that we all agreed upon is that Sula is a great driver, handling the Landcruiser with skill and always making us feel safe. This does not mean that we didn't bump about. That is part of the delight of a 4-wheel drive safari. All of the above may seem like the normal attributes of a good driver/guide, so what made Sula so special - because special he was. Sula was easy to be with. He made us feel like friends from day 1. He was full of jokes and teasing and seemed never to leave off smiling. He talked about his family and listened to stories of ours too. When we had problems with our accommodations he quickly took action to solve them. I cannot imagine a better, more talented guide than Sula.

Disappointing

Our tourist guide never showed up, it was very disappointing. We were waiting in the meeting point and couldn't contact the tourist guide.

Incredible Tour!

What an amazing tour. My son and I took this tour and it was worth every penny. The personal attention and interaction with a private, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide was incredible. Valerie was Roma native and had a degree in Archeology. Her knowledge and experience with the history of Roma was unlimited! Valerie had my son, Zach and I intrigued and our attention the entire tour. Let me also say that the tour company assured we had a vegan restaurant scheduled for lunch which was very accommodating for Zach and he said the food was delicious. That was the only part of the tour I didn’t like 🤣.. I don’t want to Leave out drive Alejandro out, as he made sure we were hydrated and got us around aroma safely… Thank you.. I’d definitely do it again!

Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver cost?

+

Prices start at $1100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver?

+

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private tour of Rome (7 / h) with English speaking guide and driver start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
