    Great Taxi Service

We looked forward to the day in Haltstatt. The rain was constant, which keep the crowd down. Trip was supposed to take 2.5 hours but took 3.75. Driver is NOT a guide, but supposed to provide their extensive knowledge of the area, which was none. Major disconnect between tour operator, company providing the driver, and the driver himself - as driver didn't know what the tour was about. Coming back into Germany we luckily had our passports, as they were required. But the driver didn't have his! Made for am interesting time. But luckily the border police allowed him in. Now on behalf of the tour operator, they did try to make things correct and are supposed to be updating the tour description to more accurately describe what you get for the price.

Response from the operator: Dear Keith. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback – we truly appreciate it, even when it highlights areas where we can improve. First and foremost, we’re sorry to hear that parts of the experience did not meet your expectations. While certain elements such as the weather or traffic delays are unfortunately beyond our control, we do recognize that there was a clear miscommunication between the tour management and the assigned driver, especially regarding the tour details and expectations. This was a case of internal error, where one of our regional team members in charge of Germany and Austria failed to provide the driver with full and clear instructions. We take this seriously and have already addressed the matter internally. Procedures will be improved to ensure this does not happen again. As for the passport issue – we fully agree this should have never happened. All drivers operating cross-border routes are required to carry valid travel documents, and we are reinforcing this policy with all teams. We are currently working on updating the tour description to ensure it accurately reflects what is included in the experience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we refine this. Despite the issues, we’re very glad to hear that you were able to enjoy Hallstatt and that the situation at the border was resolved smoothly. As a gesture of goodwill, we would be happy to offer you a partial refund or discount on a future service. Please contact us directly so we can make suitable arrangements. Thank you again for your honesty and for helping us grow. Kind regards, Europe Journey Team

    Private driver to Hallstatt

Great tour for anyone wanting the flexibility of a personal driver. George was great and his car was spacious, clean and comfortable for our family of four. Because you are responsible for booking your own tickets to the salt mine, be sure that you confirm ticket availability for your desired time as well as the time your driver can pick you up. Note that travel time from Munich should be at least 2.5 hours! We cut it really close but because there was no traffic were able to get there just in time.

Response from the operator: Hello, Leah! Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so pleased to hear that George provided a friendly and punctual service and that your family of four traveled comfortably in the clean and spacious vehicle. Your note about confirming pickup times and planning ahead for the salt mine visit is excellent advice for future travelers—thank you for sharing this tip! We’d love to assist you on your next journey.

    Great day in Hallstatt

Our driver, George, was friendly and on time. We are a family of four and the car was clean and roomy enough for all of us on the long ride to and from Hallstatt. One note- be sure to confirm your pick up time with the driver before booking your tickets to the salt mine (this is timed entry for the funicular) and allow ample time for the trip from Munich to Hallstatt. Purchase your salt mine tickets only after confirming pick up time!

Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.

How much does Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich cost?

    +

Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.

Is Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private tour Hallstatt City, Skywalk, and Salt Mine from Munich start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Munich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Munich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Munich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
