Private half day tour of Grand Palace and Wat Arun by boat is the way to go!un
My wife and I enjoyed our private tour on March 25. Our guide and driver did excellent jobs. We are seniors and I'm hard of hearing. Our guide made sure we stayed safe walking around the sites as well as getting off and on the boat. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the city and the places we visited and explained things in an entertaining way. We would recommend this guide, driver and tour.

A delightful way to see the sites
Our Guide Tina was knowledgeable and passionate about her city and people. We learned a lot about Thailand by talking with her. The tour was prompt on pick up and the site stops were well organized.

Waste of time and money
The guide was unprepared and had difficulty communicating - e.g. he knew very little about Thai history or what he was supposed to do during the day. In the middle of the tour we waited 30 minutes for a car that drove us 500 meters (which was absolutely ridiculous) and in the end of the tour we had to take a taxi home because it was closer/faster than driving to the place where”our car” was parked. In hindsight, we would have preferred to travel independently, as it would have been more simple and cost-effective. This tour was the worst tour we took in our 20+ years in Thailand.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We were deeply concerned to read about your experience, as it falls far short of the high standards we have aimed to maintain. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the frustration you felt during your day with us. Regarding the logistical issues you mentioned, we would like to provide some context on the challenges faced that day. Our guide’s intention in utilizing the vehicle for short distances—including the 500-meter stretch—was an attempt to provide relief from the intense heat and humidity, particularly as there were children in your party. Unfortunately, unforeseen and heavy traffic congestion near the Grand Palace resulted in a 30-minute delay, which we realize was incredibly inconvenient and disrupted the flow of your tour. In an effort to save time at the end of the day due to long queues at the ferry pier, our guide made the decision to arrange a taxi directly to your hotel to ensure you arrived home as quickly and comfortably as possible. We apologize if this felt disorganized; the goal was to prioritize your convenience over returning to the original tour vehicle. We also take your comments regarding the historical commentary very seriously. While this guide has a strong track record with our team, we are conducting an internal review of the tour content and communication style to ensure our storytelling meets the expectations of seasoned travelers like yourselves. We truly regret that this experience did not live up to your expectations and we will use your comments to improve our services for the future.

Amazing and full of knowledge
We had an amazing time on this tour. We did it on our first day in Bangkok (we had a short stay) and it was a perfect introduction to some of the historical sights. Our guide was so knowledgeable but also aware of how we were feeling, checking in to see if we wanted to move o or hear more information. We learned a lot and also had a lot of fun. The long boat was so relaxing and we saw several monitor lizards, cat fish and birds. Totally recommend.

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bangkok.
How much does Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat cost?
+
Prices start at $2436 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bangkok usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bangkok is not rushed.
Is Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bangkok, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bangkok can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bangkok and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour: Half-day Grand Palace and Wat Arun by Boat start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bangkok within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bangkok?
+
On Outty we rank every Bangkok experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bangkok Backstreets Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Old Siam Bangkok Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Tingly Thai Cooking Class with Morning Market Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bangkok?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bangkok?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
