    Our morning tour with...

Our morning tour with Winston could not have worked out better. At pick-up, we discussed the itinerary I’d researched (Zaanse Schans, then Broek in Waterland, followed by a drive-through of downtown Amsterdam) ending with drop-off at Schiphol for our return flight. He recommended we instead start in downtown, expecting to encounter many fewer bicycles and cars on a Sunday morning. It quickly became apparent that our visit there would have been significantly less enjoyable had we been fighting traffic along the way. Winston also suggested we make a short detour to Volendam which hadn’t surfaced in my research. We were so impressed with the area that we decided to include a stayover there during next year’s Amsterdam visit. Great job, Winston!!

We thought this tour was excellent! Ramsey was our guide and he was very friendly and informative. We were touring with my elderly parents including one in a wheelchair and this tour was easy for them and was very accommodating.

Great way to end our vacation…

Our family enjoyed this tour a lot! We took it on our last day-they picked us up with our luggage, took us around, and dropped us at the airport z. It was the perfect ending to our trip. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, the van was very clean, and we saw everything we wanted to. The cheese was the best!!

Peter Expertly Guides Us through Rotterdam and Beyond

Peter, our Viator guide, knew how to get the most out of the places we wanted to visit. With the wisdom of the ancients, he took us first to view the windmills, then to a mall that featured cheese and chocolate, then to the Delft factory, and finally to a shop that stitched Rotterdam on our shirts. All in all, Peter took very good care of us and ensured our safety on and off of the vehicle!

Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese

Our visit to the windmills, the clog‑making workshop, and the cheese‑making demonstration from Amsterdam was an unforgettable experience that blended history, culture, and hands‑on learning in the best possible way. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and much of that was thanks to our guide, Coen, whose kindness and deep knowledge shaped the entire day. The windmills were absolutely breathtaking up close. It’s one thing to see them in photos, but standing beside these towering pieces of Dutch history gives you a whole new appreciation for the engineering and craftsmanship behind them. Coen explained their purpose, their evolution, and the role they played in shaping the Netherlands. His explanations were clear, engaging, and filled with interesting details that made the history come alive without ever feeling overwhelming. The clog‑making demonstration was another highlight. Watching a traditional craft performed with such skill was fascinating, and the process was far more intricate than we expected. The demo guided us through each step, sharing stories about the cultural significance of clogs and how they’ve been used throughout Dutch history. It was both educational and genuinely fun. The cheese‑making portion of the tour was equally impressive. Learning about the history of Dutch cheese, the techniques used, and the traditions behind it added so much depth to the tasting experience. The samples were delicious, and the explanations helped us appreciate the flavors even more. One of the things we appreciated most was how Coen let us set the pace. He never rushed us, always checked in to make sure we were comfortable, and gave us plenty of time to explore, ask questions, and take photos. His patience and thoughtful approach made the entire experience feel personal and relaxed. Overall, this tour was a perfect blend of culture, history, craftsmanship, and scenic beauty. Coen’s kindness, expertise, and easygoing style elevated the experience far beyond a standard tour. We left with a deeper appreciation for Dutch traditions and a genuine sense of connection to the places we visited. Highly recommended — 🧡

Response from the operator: Dear Denise, thank you so much for your detailed review. It´s great to know that you enjoyed your tour so much with Coen as your driver/guide. Sorry for the delay in my response on your review, but for sure I will forward your kind words to Coen as well. All the best, Rudy

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese.. cost?

    +

Prices start at $73 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese.. take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese.. worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese..?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese.. suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese..?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private tour from Amsterdam, windmills, clogs & cheese.. start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
