An Unforgettable, Private Wine Experience with Riste

Riste was an awesome tour guide. He led us on a private, custom experience through two fantastic family-run wineries. We got an up-close look at how they produce their wines and enjoyed a guided tasting of five wines at each stop. Also, Riste brought deep knowledge and a very personal touch to the day. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that my wife and I will treasure for a long time

Wine and food tour in Langhe

We had an extraordinary two-day private wine and food experience in the Langhe with Riste Zafirov and his colleague Nicola — and it exceeded every expectation. We are two sisters visiting from Hong Kong and Singapore, and Riste went above and beyond to personalise both days for us. One of us is a non-drinker, and rather than making this an awkward situation, Riste embraced it graciously — even offering a thoughtful refund for the non-tasting guest. This kind of attention to detail set the tone for everything that followed. Day one was a private wine tour led by Nicola — a warm, knowledgeable and passionate guide with an impressive depth of knowledge about the Langhe. We visited Poderi Colla, where we discovered an extraordinary Moscato-based sweet Vermouth unlike anything we had tasted before, followed by a wonderful lunch at Osteria L'Aromatario in Neive, and an afternoon at Podere Ruggeri Corsini in Monforte d'Alba. Day two was a food experience led by Riste himself — a visit and full fixed menu lunch at Cascina Barroero hazelnut farm, where every dish featured hazelnuts as an ingredient. This was one of the most unique and memorable dining experiences of our entire trip through northern Italy. The afternoon at Contratto winery in Canelli — the UNESCO underground cathedral cellars carved deep into the tufa hillside — was spectacular for both guests, drinker and non-drinker alike. Riste communicated impeccably throughout the planning process — thoughtful, responsive, honest and full of genuine local knowledge. He tailored both days specifically to our interests and needs, including our interest in Moscato d'Asti. If you are visiting the Langhe and want an authentic, personalised and deeply memorable wine and food experience — look no further than Riste Zafirov and Wine Invasion. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

Personal butt not overpriced wine tour

Riste was great! He was welcoming, easy to talk with and friendly. He selected two small family owned and operated vineyards. That resonated with us. He shared why these vineyards are important to the wine culture. He explained all about the different grapes and types of wine in the region. He answered all our questions, even the naive ones. He made the lunch reservation for us at a great restaurant with more amazing views and food. We greatly enjoyed our time with Riste! Oh, we did buy wine and he helped us with the shipping to the USA. He made our excursion amazing!

Response from the operator: Thank you! Your wonderful review makes me so happy!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Turin.

How much does Private tour: discover Langhe wines with expert sommelier cost?

    +

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Turin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private tour: discover Langhe wines with expert sommelier take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Turin is not rushed.

Is Private tour: discover Langhe wines with expert sommelier worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Turin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book Private tour: discover Langhe wines with expert sommelier?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Turin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Turin and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Turin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Turin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Turin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Turin: Small-group Walking Tour of Top City Highlights, StreetFood D’Luxe Experience — Tastes of Turin, Turin Gourmet Tour: A Premium Tasting Experience by Do Eat Better. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Turin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Turin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
