Morales: Best tour guide EVER. 5 stars

Our private tour exceeded every expectation, and Morales was the biggest reason why. He was, without a doubt, the best tour guide we’ve ever had. His knowledge of the Maya ruins, local history, and culture was incredible, and he shared everything in a way that kept our entire group engaged from start to finish. What made the tour stand out was how interactive he made it. He brought maps, props, and visual aids that helped us understand how the ancient city was laid out and what life was like centuries ago. Instead of simply pointing at ruins, he brought them to life with stories and detailed explanations. Morales was also friendly, patient, and happy to answer every question we had. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and wants every guest to leave with a deeper appreciation of the history and culture. If you’re visiting Costa Maya, I highly recommend booking this private tour and asking for Daniel Morales if possible. He turned what would have been a great tour into one of the highlights of our entire cruise.

    Great time in Quinta roo

We were picked up by JoJo and motored to the site during which we received a wonderful lecture on the history of the Mayan people at the site we were greeted by Maria. She was very expert. We enjoyed the tour very much. The two of them are most competent I recommend them wholeheartedly to anybody seeking this type of tour.

    Jhoanna was great! She is...

Jhoanna was great! She is really knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We really enjoyed her! The private tour at the ruins is with a certified person at the park and her so we got a lot of extra info which was awesome. It was super interesting. We stopped at a roadside stand for fresh fruit on the way back which was delicious. The car was a taxi and his very fast driving was quite scary in the rain. Jhoanna was great in watching his speed after we requested he slow down as the hydroplaning was frightening especially after hearing the closest hospital was 2 hours away. This was a small vehicle and not very comfortable. Note that there is no cell service or internet in the car- I was able to get Satalite to send a text once in the 45 min ride from the cruise port. The ad says beer, tequila, WiFi are included and they are not. We did get a bottle of water from her when we got the the park and then we got pineapple cake, juice, and fresh pineapple roadside included. Overall it was great and we would do it again (but maybe request a van or larger vehicle ;)).

    Fantastic Ruins Tour!

Jhoana was awesome—so friendly and great with our kids! We texted her a few questions the morning of our tour, and she replied right away. She knows so much about the area and Mayan civilization, so definitely come ready to ask questions. We met her just outside the cruise port area. The only tricky part was finding our way out of the shopping district (which isn’t Jhoana’s fault), so give yourself a few extra minutes to navigate the crowds. The shop owners can help point you toward the exit if you’re unsure. Our taxi ride to the ruins was air-conditioned and super comfortable. On the way, Jhoana shared tons of cool facts about the region, the people, and the Mayan culture. She handled our entry tickets and introduced us to the local ruins guide, who joined us and gave a great tour. Together, they explained the history, purpose, and construction of the temples—it was fascinating! You can’t climb the main temples, but there are smaller structures and stairs to explore as you wander through the ruins. The grounds are gorgeous—lush trees everywhere, from sacred and coconut palms to pepper plants—and we even spotted a wild spider monkey swinging through the canopy! If you’re visiting with an infant, skip the stroller and bring a backpack or shoulder carrier instead; the terrain’s a bit uneven and the tour includes stairs. On the way back, we stopped for a quick snack of fresh pineapple and bananas before Raoul, our friendly taxi driver, took us back to the shopping area. Between Jhoana, the ruins guide, and Raoul, everything ran super smoothly. Everyone in our group agreed—it was an amazing experience, and we’d absolutely recommend this tour!

Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Costa Maya.

How much does Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Costa Maya usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Costa Maya is not rushed.

Is Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Costa Maya, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Costa Maya can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Costa Maya and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour: All Inclusive Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Costa Maya within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Costa Maya?

    +

On Outty we rank every Costa Maya experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chacchoben & Bacalar Combo Excursion Costa Maya, Costa Maya Shore Excursion Chacchoben Day Trip, Bacalar – 7 Colors Lagoon Excursión Costa Maya. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Costa Maya?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Costa Maya?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
